1. The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office Communication Server sends<br />

its default list of supported codecs in the SDP part of the INVITE<br />

message.<br />

2. The called party answers the SDP offer by returning a list of codecs.<br />

3. The PCX client sends out an RTP flow using the first common codec<br />

found in the called party's codec list.<br />

1. The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office Communication Server sends<br />

its default list of supported codecs in the SDP part of the INVITE<br />

message.<br />

2. The called party answers the SDP offer by returning a list of codecs.<br />

3. The PCX client sends out an RTP flow using the first common codec<br />

found in the called party's codec list.<br />

4. The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office Communication Server sends a<br />

Re-INVITE message containing an SDP offer with a single codec<br />

(the codec common to the two lists).<br />

5. The called party either accepts or rejects the call update.<br />

3. There are two cases:<br />

• If the preferred codec is present in the list received from the<br />

called party, the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office Communication<br />

Server sends out an RTP flow using the preferred codec/framing.<br />

• If the preferred codec is not in the list received from the called<br />

party, the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office Communication Server<br />

sends out an RTP flow using the first common codec found in<br />

the called part'y's codec list.<br />

4. The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office Communication Server sends a<br />

Re-INVITE message containing an SDP offer with a single codec<br />

(the codec negotiated at step 3).<br />
