In the case of a DECT GAP handset, the IPUI N and ARI parameters are exchanged<br />

automatically during the registration procedure. It is through these parameters that the system<br />

recognizes the handset, and vice versa.<br />

Procedure with OMC<br />

Select: Users/Base stations List-> Users/Base stations List-> Add -> add the required number of DECT<br />

accesses by selecting DECT handsets and the number of devices, then validate by clicking OK<br />

Select Users/Base stations List -> Users/Base stations List -> GAP Reg. -> The GAP registration procedure<br />

is under way when the Register GAP Handsets window appears.<br />

On the mobile<br />

Launch the registration procedure on the handset (refer to the accompanying documentation).<br />

As soon as the mobile's IPUI number appears, select an unassigned number mobile and click Assign. The<br />

IPUI number, preceded by the mobile number, then appears in the Assigned Handsets window<br />

Procedure with MMC Station.<br />

Select DECT -> Add -> GAP -> The message "In Progress…" is displayed; the registration procedure is under<br />

way.<br />

Launch the registration procedure on the handset (refer to the accompanying documentation).<br />

When the mobile's IPUI number appears, validate by clicking OK.<br />

The mobile is registered and a number is automatically assigned to it.<br />

Basic GAP and Advanced GAP<br />

In certain instances, the handset shown in the Unassigned IPUIs window may be a GAP type<br />

set; if so, you can select the preferred: Basic or Advanced.<br />

Select the IPUI number and click Modify Mode.<br />

5.1.2 PWT Overview<br />

5.1.2.1 Basic description<br />

5.1.2.1.1 PWT<br />

PWT (Personal Wireless Telecommunications) is the US DECT protocol that uses the<br />

frequency band 1910Mhz-1930Mhz.<br />

DECT and PWT frequencies are supported by different IBS (Intelligent Base Stations).<br />

The PWT IBS can be used without any specific licence.<br />

Hardware aspects<br />

DECT IBS and PWT IBS cannot run together on the same PCX.<br />

As soon as the first IBS is detected, the system becomes DECT or PWT.<br />

The next IBS must be of the same protocol (DECT or PWT) as the first one.<br />

To switch from a DECT system to a PWT system, and vice versa, unplug all IBSs, do a warm<br />
