A Journey to the Podlaskie Region of<br />

Poland<br />

Podlaskie is a historical region in the North of Poland with a mixture<br />

of populations such as Poland, White Russian, Germans,<br />

Russians, Tatars and Lithuanians. Looking after the natural habitat<br />

is for the local inhabitants highly important and during your trip you<br />

will get to see 3 of Polands most beautiful National Parks.<br />

Suggested programme:<br />

Day 1:<br />

Arrive in your hotel in the Warsaw area, evening meal in your hotel.<br />

Day 2:<br />

After a relaxing breakfast you can enjoy a city tour of the Capital<br />

of Poland, Warsaw. Your tour will take you to some of the cities<br />

highlights such as the historical Old town and the Kings path. You<br />

then travel on to the north east and the Biebrzanski National Park.<br />

Here you will discover the original peat area of Middle Europe before<br />

continuing on to your hotel in the Augustow area.<br />

Day 3:<br />

Begin your day with a visit to the town of Augustow, not to be missed<br />

is the old market. You then travel to Wigry Lake, the largest of<br />

more than 40 lakes in Wigry National Park. Enjoy a boat trip on the<br />

lake and delight in the picturesque countryside before continuing<br />

to the Camaldolese Convent in Wigry. Your day then ends with a<br />

visit to the town of Suwalken, known for its classical centre and<br />

also the Alexander Cathedral, the Town Hall and the clock tower.<br />

You then return to your hotel in Augustow.<br />

Day 4:<br />

Today you can discover the Tartars path, which lies on Sokolkam<br />

Bohoniki and Kruszyniany. Once populated by numerous Tartars<br />

Your day continues with a trip to<br />

Tykocin, the second largest city in<br />

Northern Poland, where the Baroque<br />

edge of the National Park.<br />

Day 5:<br />

Visit the small town of Hajnowka<br />

and its orthodox Cathedral, the<br />

Holy Trinity, before continuing<br />

through picturesque landscapes<br />

to the primeval forest of the Bialowieza<br />

National Park where the<br />

take you to Topilo Lake. The narrow gauge railway was built during<br />

the 2 nd World War by the Germans in order to transport timber. In<br />

the afternoon, visit the Bison reservation where you can also see<br />

wild boar, wolfs and elks.<br />

Day 6:<br />

More secrets of the Bialowieza National Park will be discovered<br />

today. Begin with a visit to the Park Museum where you should not<br />

miss the bird room or the observation tower. You then have time<br />

to visit the park at your own pace before returning to your hotel. In<br />

the evening, we recommend a horse and carriage ride.<br />

Day 7:<br />

On your way back to Warsaw why not visit the Grabarka convent,<br />

one of the most important pilgrimage locations of Poland. The hill,<br />

on which the Closter stands, is covered by a sea of wooden crosses<br />

that have been placed by pilgrims, some dating as far back as<br />

the 18 th century. Your overnight will be in Warsaw.<br />

Day 8:<br />

Depart homeward after breakfast.<br />
