are also set in stunning parks. This
programme will show you some
of the most splendid buildings in

Day 1:
Arrival in your middle-class hotel in Vienna and dinner in your hotel.
Day 2:
Today you will follow in the footsteps of the Habsburgs. The guided
walk will begin in the historic heart of Vienna, in front of St Stephan's
cathedral (entrance not included), where the “Viennese double wedding”
took place in 1515, an historically significant event which later
brought the Habsburgs both the Hungarian and Bohemian crowns.
Continue to the imperial vault, the last resting place of the imperial
family, which documents more than 300 centuries of Austrian
history. Pass the Church of the Augustinian Friars, where Emperor
Franz Joseph and Sisi exchanged their marital vows in 1854, then
end the tour at the Hofburg, which houses the Sisi Museum, the
Imperial State Apartments and the Imperial Silver Collection. In the
former private rooms of Franz Joseph and Sisi you can see some
of the original furniture, valuable silverware and private possessions
of the Habsburgs. In the afternoon drive to Schönbrunn Palace, the
former summer residence of the imperial family.
Day 3:
Today visit Schloss Hof, which was built as a hunting estate for Prince Eugene
of Savoy in the 1720s. See the castle, with its imperial apartments,
the spectacular terraced gardens and working estate with animals. The
chapel is where one of the few Habsburg love marriages took place in
1766 between Maria Christina and Albert von Sachsen-Teschen.
