Tour of Discovery in Northern Slovenia

Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Arrive at your hotel in Bled area. Welcome drink and evening meal
at your hotel.
Day 2:
After breakfast, take a trip to the Triglav National Park. Among
other things, visit the Nordic ski jump in Kranska Gora. Then visit
the small Museum of Kobarid, which shows the dramatic events
of the Battle of the Alps in the First World War. In the afternoon,
you have the opportunity to explore the town of Bled on your own.
Take a horse and carriage ride through the city or enjoy a boat trip
on Lake Bled. Also worth a visit is Bled castle to be found high up
on a rock. Dinner at your hotel.
Day 3:
Today, make a trip to one of the largest cave systems in Slovenia
- the Postojna caves. Your guided tour will show you some magnificent
passages, galleries and halls fully decorated with stalactites.
Afterwards visit the stud farm Lipica, where the beautiful white
Lipizzaner horses got their name.

Day 4:
After a leisurely breakfast, visit the "Velika Planina". On this plateau,
the time seems to have stood still. This high plateau is one
of the best preserved herdsman settlements in Slovenia and the
traditions of pasture farming and cheese making is still alive. Enjoy
the wonderful karst landscape
before moving on to the capital of
Slovenia, Ljubljana and your hotel
in the Ljubljana area. Evening
meal at the hotel.
Day 5:
Spend your day in the capital of
Slovenia. Your guide will meet
you at the hotel and together you
explore the old town. Along the

cafés that radiate a southern hospitality. The afternoon is free for
you to enjoy at your leisure or you could take a ride up the funicular
to Ljubljana castle.
Day 6:
After a leisurely breakfast, travel to Celje. Celje is the third largest
city in Slovenia and is located at the confluence of the Voglajna
and Savinja rivers. Visit this vibrant city with its beautiful Old Castle,
the Abbey Church of St Daniel, the National Theatre, the water
tower and much more. On your way to Maribor, make a stop at the
Pauline Monastery in Olimje. The Paulists built this Renaissance
convent, with its Baroque architecture, in the 17 th century.
Day 7:
This morning explore Maribor with your guide on a city tour. The
city lies at the foot of the wine-bearing hills and the green Pohorje
Mountains. Stroll through the university town and hear stories of
the flourishing history of the past centuries. A must-see is a visit
to the "Old Vine", the oldest vine in the world. Still, to this day, she
bears grapes every year that are used to fill up just a few bottles.
The afternoon is free at your leisure.
