Impressive trains and spectacular mountains are the highlights of
this tour. Discover Lucerne, amaze at the magnificent Eiger Mountain,
see the spectacular Lake Geneva and ancient farmhouses.
Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Arrive at your hotel.
Day 2:
Visit the lakeside town of Lucerne with its fascinating old town
and historic monuments. Lucerne ranks high amongst the world‘s
prettiest cities and has a great deal to offer, such as the world-famous
Chapel Bridge and Water Tower, the Musegg Wall and the
Lion Monument. Lucerne is best discovered on foot so why not
enhance the day with a city guide? To end the day we recommend
a lake cruise before heading back to your hotel for dinner.
Day 3:
Travel to Lauterbrunnen and join the longest cogwheel railway system
in Switzerland, the Jungfrau Railways. Your journey takes you
to the Kleine Scheidegg, at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau
mountains, the spectacular location of many mountaineering
achievements and tragedies. Depending on the time, we recommend
a trip through the mountains by train to the Jungfrau ridge.
Your journey then takes you on to the popular mountain village of
Grindelwald where you can enjoy some free time before returning
to your hotel for the evening.
Day 4:
Take a wonderful picture postcard train journey from Gstaad, over
high mountain passes and through traditional Swiss mountain villages,
to the lakeside town of Montreux. Gstaad is internationally
renowned but has managed to keep its Alpine Charm and authentic
traditions. After a short stop, you join the train to Montreaux,
travelling through some of Switzerland’s
most picturesque landscape.
Enjoy some free time in Montreux for a walk along the lakeside
promenade before returning to your hotel.
Day 5:
Today we suggest a trip to the lakeside resort of Brienz where you
can enjoy a journey up the Rothorn with the spectacular Rothorn
Train, coffee and cake at the summit. Afterwards enjoy a wander
round the village or along the lakeside or a visit to the Ballenberg
Open air Museum before returning to your hotel.
Day 6:
Departure.
from E 480.-
TIP:
Enjoy a stop in the Suisse Open Air Museum Ballenberg where
during a guided tour you will learn more about handcrafts, architecture,
Swiss traditions, animals and nature.
