Every year, the Christmas markets in the
South Tyrol are the reason why everyone
travels to Bozen and Meran. Locals and visitors alike are entranced
by the smells of ginger bread, mulled wine and sweet candy.
Music can be heard throughout the markets and everyone enjoys
the Christmas atmosphere.
Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Arrive at your hotel in the South Tyrol region, your home for the
next 2 nights.
Day 2:
After a relaxing breakfast, travel through the winter scenery to Meran
or Bozen. On arrival you will be met by your city guide who
will introduce you to the cities secrets, highlights and history. Afterwards
you have free time to discover the city and its Christmas
market on your own. Discover the hustle and bustle of the market
place and enjoy the wonderful smells while you buy some last
minute presents.
Day 3:
Extend your stay, combine with another tour or departure.
TIP:
Visit the medieval Christmas market in the small town of Klausen
or the Christmas market at the "Domplatz" of Brixen.

Christmas markets, picturesque villages and the Dolomites, you
will experience all of these during this festive programme.
Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Arrive at your middle-class hotel in the South Tyrol, your home for
the next 4 nights.
Day 2:
After breakfast travel through the winter countryside in direction Meran.
This well-known wine region with its southern climate has many
sights to offer. Discover the town during a guided city tour before then
having free time to stroll around the Christmas market. To enhance
your day we recommend a visit to one of the many other Christmas
markets in the region, Brixen, Bozen, Bruneck or Sterzing.
Day 3:
We recommend a visit of Trento (Trient). This is a historical and artistic
city were Italian and Central European cultures meet. Some of
the most important sights of the city are the "Castello del Buonconsiglio",
the centuries long residence of the Trient Prince-Bishops,
the Cathedral of St Vigilius, also called Duomo and Piazza Duomo
with the Fontana di Nettuno (Fountain of Neptune), Council churches,
frescoed buildings and museums. Discover the city with a city
tour or on your own, but don’t forget to visit the Christmas market.
Day 4:
Today we recommend a trip along the "Grödnertal". Visit the villages
of Wolkenstein, Lajen, St. Ulrich and St. Christina and enjoy a
cable car ride above the spectacular winter countryside or a walk
along the valley. During the day we recommend a horse and carriage
ride through the winter landscape.
Day 5:
Depart homeward after breakfast.
