Vineyards of the

The Main loop between Wertheim
and Aschaffenburg counts as one

Day 2:
In the morning you discover the Harz Mountains with the famous
"Harzer" narrow gauge railway and head to the summit of the Brocken.
At the highest peak of the Harz Mountains you have a wonderful
scenic view of the region. You continue your railway jouney
through picturesque scenery to Wernigerode Where, your tour guide
will introduce you to the highlights of this colourful Harz town.
Enjoy some free time before returning to the hotel.
Day 3:
Today you discover two UNESCO World Heritage cities of the
Harz region. Your first stop is the impressing medieval town of
Quedlinburg, where you make a 1 hour city walk. After some free
time, you travel through wonderful scenery to the city Lutherstadt
Eisleben. The hometown of Martin Luther offers a charming historic
district that will be discovered during a guided city walk.
Day 4:
Your first stop is the imperial city of Goslar known as the "Rome
of the North". Enjoy a city tour before savoring a profiterole and
a coffee on the shore of picturesque Lake Okersee? Alternatively
visit the Rammelsberg mine.
Day 5:
Depart homeward.
Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Travel via Wurzburg to Miltenberg where you enjoy a city tour.
Then travel to your hotel in the Main-Spessart region, your home
for the next 2 nights.
Day 2:
After breakfast journey to Miltenberg again where you board your
ship for a sail along the Main loop to Wertheim. Enjoy the wonderful
countryside and the views of the vineyards. Wertheim, once the
residence of the Count of Wertheim, has wonderful narrow streets,
townhouses and an impressive fortress ruin. All this combined gives
the town a unique atmosphere. Especially impressive is the
view from the Wertheim fortress to the foothills of Spessart and
Odenwald. You a guided city tour before discovering more on your
own or travel to the Wertheim village for some shopping.
Day 3:
After breakfast, travel to Würzburg where a short city tour introduces
you to this magical city. Then continue to Volkach where
you make a city tour "gate to gate" before taking part in a wine
tasting. Enjoy lunch before starting your homeward journey.
