On the Tracks of the Glacier Express<br />
Discover the highlights of two spectacular Alpine countries, Switzerland<br />
and Austria, during this tour.<br />
Suggested programme:<br />
Day 1:<br />
Arrive at your hotel in the Lucerne area, your home for the next 2<br />
nights.<br />
Day 2:<br />
After breakfast we recommend a trip to Lucerne, where you can<br />
enhance the visit with a city guide. Alternatively enjoy a trip to the<br />
lakeside towns of Brienz and Interlaken. A scenic drive will take<br />
you over the Brunig Pass to the 1000-year-old village of Brienz.<br />
Have a wander around this lovely town before taking a trip on<br />
the steam-hauled Brienzer Rothorn cog railway. The journey starts<br />
in the well restored railway station and then climbs up through<br />
tunnels and galleries to some of Switzerland’s most breath-taking<br />
scenery. Your day ends with a journey along the lake shores to the<br />
famous resort of Interlaken.<br />
Day 3:<br />
Today you depart from Switzerland and follow the tracks of the<br />
Glacier Express on your way to Austria. Enjoy spectacular views<br />
and travel through quaint mountain towns, before arriving at your<br />
hotel in the Feldkirch area, your home for the next 3 nights.<br />
Day 4:<br />
Enjoy a morning visit to the capital of Vorarlberg, Bregenz, located<br />
on the shores of Lake Constance. After some free time, travel on<br />
to the town of St. Gallen in Switzerland where we recommend a<br />
walk around the old town with its Baroque cathedral and abbey<br />

Day 5:<br />

Start your day with a trip to the<br />
tiny principality of Liechtenstein<br />

a visit to the wooden town of<br />
Werdenberg, the smallest town in Switzerland, with its buildings<br />
from the 15 th and 17 th centuries. To end the day we suggest a trip<br />
to the mountain resort of Appenzell, well known for its cheese, for<br />
a visit to a dairy and some free time before returning to your hotel.<br />
