Day 2:<br />

After breakfast drive to Schönbrunn Palace, one of the finest examples<br />

of Viennese baroque architecture with its extremely beautiful<br />

park. After a guided tour proceed to the adjoining Café Residenz,<br />

where you can watch how an original Viennese apple strudel is<br />

made. A copy of the original recipe is included! Afterwards sample<br />

a piece of the strudel, fresh from the oven, accompanied by a warm<br />

drink. Afternoon and evening at leisure.<br />

Day 3:<br />

This morning enjoy an informative walking tour of Vienna. See some<br />

of the magnificent buildings along the Ringstrasse, including the<br />

State Opera House and the Imperial Palace, as well as St Stephan's<br />

cathedral. See also some of the most popular shopping streets in<br />

Vienna - the famous Kärntnerstrasse, as well as the Graben and<br />

the Kohlmarkt with their elegant designer boutiques. In the traditional<br />

Augustinerkeller restaurant you can enjoy a typical 3-course<br />

"Viennese Schnitzel" menu, then visit the "Old Viennese Schnapps<br />

Museum", where you will learn how these traditional spirits and liqueurs<br />

are produced. Sample some of these delicious specialities!<br />

In the late afternoon drive to Weingut Böck in the traditional wine-growing<br />

village of Pfaffstätten, approx. 25 km from Vienna. Enjoy<br />

a short walk through the vineyards, before tucking in to a tasty meal<br />

in the "Heuriger" (wine tavern) with musical accompaniment.<br />

"The monastery of Klosterneuburg<br />

– where earth meets heaven".<br />

Just 10 km outside of<br />

Vienna, the monastery of Klosterneuburg<br />

lies on the banks of the<br />

River Danube. Margrave Leopold<br />

founded the first church here in<br />

the Romanesque period. Numerous<br />

treasures from the Austrian church history can be seen here,<br />

including the famous Altar of Verdun. A fascinating tour through<br />

Austria’s oldest wine estate will illustrate the almost 900-year history<br />

of the wine production in the monastery of Klosterneuburg.<br />

Suggested programme:<br />

Day 1:<br />

Arrival in your middle-class hotel in Vienna. Dinner in the hotel.<br />

Day 2:<br />

Today you will discover Vienna. During a half-day sightseeing tour<br />

you will see the most important buildings along the Ringstrasse, for<br />

example the State Opera House, the Museums of Fine Art and Natural<br />

History, the Imperial Palace, the Parliament and the City Hall.<br />

The tour will also take you across the Danube, where you will see the<br />

most modern side of Vienna with the Danube Tower, the UNO City<br />

and many new ultra-modern buildings. Enjoy a traditional Viennese<br />

Schnitzel for lunch. The afternoon is then free to spend at leisure.<br />

Day 3:<br />

After breakfast, your guide will take you to the small town of Klosterneuburg,<br />

where you will see the monastery and receive an insight<br />

into its 900-year history. During a themed tour you will see<br />

many of the treasures and can admire the impressive architectural<br />

heritage. Under the motto "Culture and wine" you will also visit the<br />

monastery’s vineyards, the oldest wine-growing estate in Austria.<br />

After your visit to the monastery, you return to Vienna. In the evening<br />

there will be the opportunity to visit a "Heuriger" or wine tavern.<br />
