Advent is one of the most attractive
times of the year to visit the
beautiful festival city of Salzburg. Surrounded
by the lakes and mountains of the picturesque Salzkammergut
region, the "City of Mozart" is certainly one of the most magnificent
in the world, with its perfect location and incomparable architecture.
At this time of the year the city is at its most romantic, with
its traditional Advent markets and festive Christmas spirit, warmly
welcoming visitors from all over the world. Above all, however,
Salzburg is renowned for its music and we invite you to join in the
famous "Salzburg Advent Singing", where the songs and music of
many centuries, age-old Alpine customs and contemporary stage
design are all combined to form a harmonious whole.
Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Arrival in Salzburg and check in to your middle-class hotel.
Day 2:
This morning join the informative walking tour through the heart
of the city. Stroll past the magnificent baroque palaces and courtyards,
see Mozart’s birthplace in the delightful Getreidegasse and
visit the beautiful Mirabell Gardens with their spectacular view of
the fortress which dominates the city. In the afternoon you may
like to take a guided tour of the Fortress of Hohensalzburg, visit
the splendid cathedral or simply wander through the enchanting
Christmas market in the heart of the city with its traditional gifts and
delicious seasonal specialities. In the evening enjoy a performance
of the famous "Salzburg Advent Singing" in the Great Festival Hall.

Visit Austria’s capital in the weeks
before Christmas and enjoy the
very special atmosphere. Stroll
along the beautifully decorated shopping
streets with their sparkling lights, browse through the numerous
Christmas markets or warm yourself up with roasted chestnuts and a
glass of punch. Special nativity exhibitions, concerts and other events
make the programme complete. Our package includes dinner and a
concert in the impressive Kursalon, the original location of Johann
Strauss’ promenade concerts.

Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Arrival in Vienna and overnight in your middle-class hotel.
Day 2:
In the morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Vienna. A particular
attraction is the Christmas market in front of Schönbrunn palace,
which is one of the most traditional in Vienna. In the centre there
is a giant Christmas tree, often the location of special musical performances.
To warm up we invite you to a hot drink and a snack.
The rest of the day is at leisure – time to stroll through the festively
decorated heart of the city, or do some Christmas shopping.
Day 3:
Morning at leisure. In the afternoon visit some more of the Christmas
markets, e.g. in the trendy artistic district of Spittelberg, the nearby
Christmas village in front of the museums, or the largest market in
front of the City Hall. This popular market has special attractions for
children, including magically decorated trees, a workshop where
children can also make their own gifts and a special Christmas post
office. In the evening you will enjoy dinner and a Strauss and Mozart
concert at the beautiful Kursalon in the City Park.
Tour enhancement:
Excursion to the nearby Salzkammergut and a visit to the beautiful
Christmas markets St Wolfgang, St Gilgen and Strobl. A special
boat ride, connecting the three villages, takes you across the illuminated
lake with its swimming lantern. A really special experience!
