The Cultural Heritage
of the Danube – Vltava Rivers Region
Discover this fascinating region with its history and wealth of architectural
and cultural treasures. Visit the colourful "Cultural" capitals
of Linz (2009) and Plzen in (2015) – and the small medieval town
of Cesky Krumlov. The Bavarian cities of Regensburg and Passau
are home to some of the most beautiful architectural treasures in
European history and an excursion to Prague will introduce you
the "city of a hundred spires".
Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Arrive in Linz and dinner in your hotel.
Day 2:
Today you will learn more about Linz during a guided walking tour.
This is a lively, colourful and dynamic city with a high quality of
living. Discover a city with modern architecture, a relaxing atmosphere
and warm hospitality. In the afternoon relax during a boat
ride round the harbour and discover the city from a different perspective.
In the evening, we recommend visit to a concert in the
recently opened "Musiktheater" or in the "Brucknerhaus".
Day 3:
After breakfast drive through the picturesque "Mühlviertel" and
across the Austro-Czech border to Cesky Krumlov, known as the
South Bohemian pearl amongst the Czech cities. This charming
medieval city was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992.
See the historic heart of the medieval old town and the castle high
above the roofs during a guided walking tour. After a traditional
lunch, spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Continue to your
hotel in Plzen.
Day 4:
The West Bohemian city of Plzen is known for the world-famous
Pilsner Urquell brewery, which
has a brewing tradition dating
back to 1842. Similar to Linz,
Plzen has developed to become
a modern metropolis. Following
a guided tour through the Old
Town and a visit to the brewery
with beer tasting, you can enjoy
a pleasant lunch at the legendary
beer tavern "Na Spilce".

Day 5:
Prague – one of the most beautiful
cities in the world. A city tour
will show you the most important
places and sights, such as Wencelas
Square, the National Theatre, the Lesser
Town and Hradcany with Prague castle, Charles’ Bridge, the former
Jewish district and the Old Town Square.
Day 6:
On the way from Plzen to Passau, start your day with a guided
city tour of Regensburg and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage
Visitor Centre. In the afternoon, admire the unique skyline from
aboard your Crystal Ship. The evening can be spent in Passau
with a concert at the home of the largest cathedral organ in the
world in St. Stephan’s Cathedral.
Day 7:
After breakfast, a walking tour of Passau is on the programme.
During a boat ride, you will have a great vantage point over the
most beautiful sections of the "Upper Danube Valley". The highlight
of the cruise is the Schlögener Loop with panoramic views.
Afterwards continue to Linz.
