of the Danube – Vltava Rivers Region<br />

Discover this fascinating region with its history and wealth of architectural<br />

and cultural treasures. Visit the colourful "Cultural" capitals<br />

of Linz (2009) and Plzen in (2015) – and the small medieval town<br />

of Cesky Krumlov. The Bavarian cities of Regensburg and Passau<br />

are home to some of the most beautiful architectural treasures in<br />

European history and an excursion to Prague will introduce you<br />

the "city of a hundred spires".<br />

Suggested programme:<br />

Day 1:<br />

Arrive in Linz and dinner in your hotel.<br />

Day 2:<br />

Today you will learn more about Linz during a guided walking tour.<br />

This is a lively, colourful and dynamic city with a high quality of<br />

living. Discover a city with modern architecture, a relaxing atmosphere<br />

and warm hospitality. In the afternoon relax during a boat<br />

ride round the harbour and discover the city from a different perspective.<br />

In the evening, we recommend visit to a concert in the<br />

recently opened "Musiktheater" or in the "Brucknerhaus".<br />

Day 3:<br />

After breakfast drive through the picturesque "Mühlviertel" and<br />

across the Austro-Czech border to Cesky Krumlov, known as the<br />

South Bohemian pearl amongst the Czech cities. This charming<br />

medieval city was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992.<br />

See the historic heart of the medieval old town and the castle high<br />

above the roofs during a guided walking tour. After a traditional<br />

lunch, spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Continue to your<br />

hotel in Plzen.<br />

Day 4:<br />

The West Bohemian city of Plzen is known for the world-famous<br />

Pilsner Urquell brewery, which<br />

has a brewing tradition dating<br />

back to 1842. Similar to Linz,<br />

Plzen has developed to become<br />

a modern metropolis. Following<br />

a guided tour through the Old<br />

Town and a visit to the brewery<br />

with beer tasting, you can enjoy<br />

a pleasant lunch at the legendary<br />

beer tavern "Na Spilce".<br />

Day 5:<br />

Prague – one of the most beautiful<br />

cities in the world. A city tour<br />

will show you the most important<br />

places and sights, such as Wencelas<br />

Square, the National Theatre, the Lesser<br />

Town and Hradcany with Prague castle, Charles’ Bridge, the former<br />

Jewish district and the Old Town Square.<br />

Day 6:<br />

On the way from Plzen to Passau, start your day with a guided<br />

city tour of Regensburg and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage<br />

Visitor Centre. In the afternoon, admire the unique skyline from<br />

aboard your Crystal Ship. The evening can be spent in Passau<br />

with a concert at the home of the largest cathedral organ in the<br />

world in St. Stephan’s Cathedral.<br />

Day 7:<br />

After breakfast, a walking tour of Passau is on the programme.<br />

During a boat ride, you will have a great vantage point over the<br />

most beautiful sections of the "Upper Danube Valley". The highlight<br />

of the cruise is the Schlögener Loop with panoramic views.<br />

Afterwards continue to Linz.<br />
