Spectacular "Salzkammergut" – the Austrian Lake district, is one
of Austria’s most popular destinations.
Suggested programme:
Day 1:
Arrive at your middle-class hotel in the "Salzkammergut" region of
Austria, your home for the next four nights.
Day 2:
Start your stay with a tour of the lakes, visiting St. Gilgen, birth
place of Mozarts mother and St. Wolfgang with its famous White
Horse Inn. Your day is enhanced by a boat trip across Lake Wolfgang
and an unforgettable journey with the "Schafberg" railway to
an altitude of 1,190m above sea level. In the afternoon we suggest
a drive to Mondsee, where you can visit the wedding church of the
famous movie "The Sound of Music".

Day 4:
Today you will visit one of the most magnificent cities in the world,
Salzburg. During a guided walking tour you will be introduced to
the main sights and secrets of the Old town before you visit Ho-

Day 5:
We recommend a half day trip to Bad Ischl today. This famous spa
town in the Lake District was the preferred summer residence of
the Habsburger family and is known for its impressive "Kaiser Villa".
The villa and park were classed as one of the greatest treasures
of the 19 th century and are a direct contrast to the magnificent
splendour of the Vienna palaces.
Day 6:
Depart homeward.

Day 3:
Why not enhance your stay with a trip on the Attergau narrow gauge
railway to Attersee followed by a round trip on Lake Attersee?
From the train you can enjoy the excellent panorama views of the
surrounding Kalkalpen Mountains and from the boat the picturesque
lakeside scenery. To end your day we recommend some free
time in Attersee.

Zwölferhornbahn, St Gilgen:
For the adventurous amongst you we recommend a trip up the
Zwölferhorn cable car for spectacular photo opportunities.
Sound of Music Tour:
This coach tour will bring you to the original film locations such
as Mirabellgarten, Schloss Leopoldskron, Schloss Hellbrunn, Stift
Nonnberg, St Gilgen and the Basilica Mondsee.
Hallstatt:
Discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hallstatt with its idyllic
location on the lake with the same name. More than 7000 years
ago salt was extracted here the history of which you can discover
on a tour through the Hallstatt Salt Worlds.
