OP-III-8resistance is the membrane and the diffusion of the SO 2 molecules through the gas can beneglected. Thus, the parabolic profile in the gas phase can be ignored. In order to validate the applicability of the models, some experimental runs have beencarried out. The process efficiency is about 50% which is close to the efficiency obtained withthe models: 56% with laminar and plug flow models and 45% with a mixing model.ConclusionsA mathematical modelling considering diffusion-controlled mass transport andinstantaneous reaction has been applied to the non-dispersive absorption process using ahollow fibre membrane module. Experimental results show a good correlation with the model, showing that the membrane is the main resistance to the mass transfer as it could be expected.AcknowledgmentsThis research is financially supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology(Project CONSOLIDER CTM2006-00317).References1.
