PP-IV-191. Proportionally less isoparaffin hydrocarbons are formed from n-hexane present in <strong>the</strong>cycloparaffin containing feed.2. Octane numbers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mixtures <strong>of</strong> cyclohexane and methyl cyclopentane are higherthan those <strong>of</strong> isoparaffin mixtures at <strong>the</strong> investigated reaction temperature.The yield <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mixture <strong>of</strong> iso- and cycloparaffins (ip+cp) obtained after separating n-paraffins with 100% efficiency was relatively high (60-75%). The cyclohexane isomerizes tomethyl cyclopentane having high octane number. The RON <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mixtures <strong>of</strong> iso- andcycloparaffins are nearly <strong>the</strong> same for all products RON ip+cp-feed ~40-52. Advantages <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lowtemperature processΔ(79.0-82.5) and are <strong>the</strong> followings:• energy-economical operation;• significant capacity increase can be reached due to <strong>the</strong> lower n-paraffin recirculation(applying <strong>the</strong> same amount <strong>of</strong> catalyst and LHSV), or in case <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same capacity <strong>the</strong>amount <strong>of</strong> catalyst is lower which results in cost saving;• more isoparaffin hydrocarbons (~4-6%) can be produced from a fraction <strong>of</strong> givenamount and composition (raw material saving);• hydrogen saving conversion, since <strong>the</strong> rate <strong>of</strong> hydrocracking reactions is lower as <strong>the</strong>catalyst is active at medium temperature, thus less hydrogen isC m H 2m+2 + C n-m H 2(n-m)+2 →consumed. Hydrocracking: C n H 2n+2 + H 2• product mixture having at least 2-5 units higher octane number can be produced bysimple pass over.Desulphurization <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> feedstock and removal <strong>of</strong> water is not an issue in <strong>the</strong> process,because <strong>the</strong> sulphur content <strong>of</strong> engine gasoline – thus that <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> gasoline blendingcomponents, as well – has to be reduced below 50 (10) ppm in <strong>the</strong> European Union from 2005and it has to be practically water-free, too.
