OP-II-6Many factors have been found to influence the equilibrium extraction characteristics ofthese systems. Three important variables are the nature of the olefin extracted, theconcentration of silver salt, and the type of diluent. In Figure 1 the results of partition of CPand DCP between organic and ionic liquid phases are given at 293 K; as shown, both solutesare selectively extracted from cyclohexane.8000Diene content in IL phase (ppm)6000400020000DCPCP0 200 400 600 800 1000Diene content in organic phase (ppm)Figure 1: Partition equilibrium of cyclopentadiene and dicyclopentadiene between organic and ionic liquidphases ([AgBF 4 ] =0.1 M in ionic liquid solution; 293 K)As conclusions, in our work it was found that the selective extraction of the dienes (CPand DCP) via silver complexation can be carried out in an ionic liquid media. The solubilityof dienes in extractive mixtures increases with increasing silver concentration, and itdecreases at higher temperatures due to a decreasing complexation constant asπ-complexation reactions are exothermic.AcknowledgementsThe Ministry of Education and Science (Spain) financially supported this research underprojects CTQ2005-02583/PPQ and CTM2006-00317.References1.
