OP-III-11The CCS is also very well suited for chiral separation of amino-acid derivatives usingliquid-liquid extraction. Excellent results were obtained using a chiral cinchona alkaloidextractant 3 in a water-dichloro-ethane system.Biphasic enzymatic reactions may also be performed conveniently in the CCS. Thebiphasic Rhizomucor miehei lipase catalysed esterification of oleic acid with n-butanol to thecorresponding ester in a heptane/water mixture was shown to proceed with oleic acidconversions of up to 70%.ConclusionsWe have demonstrated the applicability of a highly integrated reactor/separator device forinteresting biphasic chemical reactions. Details about the systems including optimizationstudies (kinetic- and reactor modeling) will be reported in the presentation.References1. a) D.H. Meikrantz et al.
