PARTIAL OXIDATION OF METHANE TO C 1 -OXYGENATESOVER METALLIC OXIDES CATALYSTSR. Sahki 1 , C. Rabia 2 and S. Hocine 11 Laboratoire de Chimie Appliquée et de Génie Chimique; Université MouloudMammeri ;Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria2 Laboratoire de Chimie du Gaz Naturel; Institut de Chimie USTHB;B.P 32 El- Alia Bab-Ezzouar 16111 ; Alger, AlgeriaPP-IV-28AbstractThe catalytic partial oxidation of methane (POM) to C 1 -oxygenates (CH 3 OH and HCHO)with O 2 and N 2 O gaz reactant has been investigated. The reaction was carried out at theatmospheric pressure at temperature range 700-780 °C, using Cu-Fe/Al 2 O 3 , Cu-Mo/Al 2 O 3oxide catalysts. The conversion and selectivity of reaction products strongly depends onreaction conditions. We have found that methane was transformed to methanol, COx, H 2 , H 2 Oand to formaldehyde. It was found that increasing the temperature increased CH 2 O selectivityand decreased CH 3 OH selectivity. The physico-chemical properties of the catalyst were detected before and after reactionusing different techniques: N 2 adsorption, SEM, DRX and FTIR.Keywords: Selective oxidation; Methane; Methanol; Formaldehyde.445
