PP-III-38because <strong>of</strong> difference <strong>of</strong> initial and finishing products densities and induces phasetransformation. An exhaustive analytic and numerical study <strong>of</strong> travelling waves <strong>of</strong> fracturereveals <strong>the</strong> existence <strong>of</strong> supersonic modes <strong>of</strong> transformations. The very important forgeotectonics problem <strong>of</strong> ignition (starting) <strong>of</strong> earthquakes catastrophic waves by localdisturbance in earth rock is investigated. With <strong>the</strong> present model, <strong>the</strong> critical strain necessaryto ignite gasless detonation by local perturbations is determined.There are discussed some works <strong>of</strong> geophysicists [6,7] in which a phase transformationconcept was used for explanation <strong>of</strong> earthquakes phenomenon. There is discussed <strong>the</strong>question about possibility <strong>of</strong> laboratory experimental modeling <strong>of</strong> earthquake with example <strong>of</strong>super-fast decay <strong>of</strong> metastable silicate glasses – chemical analogues <strong>of</strong> earth rock matter(explosives <strong>of</strong> «Prince Ruppert Drops» [8] and «Tempered Glasses» [9]).The work performed at <strong>the</strong> financial support <strong>of</strong> RFBR № 07-03-00259.References:1.
