PP-III-6(T p ) was taken as an index <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> catalytic activity <strong>of</strong> each tested catalyst. CeO 2 , LaFeO 3 andMnCr 2 O 4 catalysts showed <strong>the</strong> best performances with a lowering <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> T p <strong>of</strong> about 150-200°C, from 500°C to about 300°C (a temperature easily reached in real conditions)compared to <strong>the</strong> uncatalytic runs.Moreover, a very high selectivitytowards CO 2 conversion was observedfor <strong>the</strong> catalytic runs respect to <strong>the</strong>uncatalytic one.The best tested catalysts were <strong>the</strong>ndeposited on an appropriate substrate:vast majority <strong>of</strong> oven muffle liners aremade by carbon steel sheets protectedby enamel, typically made by oreFig. 1. Both in-situ spray pyrolysis and SCS were selected for <strong>the</strong> deposition<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> catalyst on enamel. Obtained catalytic layers were characterized by SEM (ScanningElectron Microscopy) and XRD (X-Ray Diffractometer), to assess integrity, adhesion onenamel and obtained phases (Fig. 1).Catalytic layer activity towards reference fatty acids oxidation was investigated via TPCexperiments using an appropriate reactor: fatty acids were deposited on catalyzed enameledsteel sheet strips, using bare enamel as a reference. Also, catalytic efficiency towards naturalfat substances (olive oil, pork lard, butter) was tested: solid and liquid natural fats aresubjected to significant variance and natural degradation, hence comparative test wereperformed on samples from a common stock.Finally, 50 mm wide square samples were coated by <strong>the</strong> most promising catalysts andlocated on a drip pan, to perform a cooking cycle simulation (250 °C for 60’; soiling by oliveoil at target temperature reach) in a standard oven; weight loss, aes<strong>the</strong>tic appearance,cleanability were benchmarked versus bare drip pan enamel surface.
