98 <strong>THE</strong> <strong>CYPRUS</strong> <strong>GAZETTE</strong> (^EXTRAORDINARY , 12ih APRIL. 1918.(3) In "The Cyprus Courts of Justice Order,1882," and in any other Order in Council affectingCyprus, and in any Rules, Regulations, or Ordersmade thereunder:—(a) Every reference to an " Ottoman Action "shall be construed and read as if the words"Cypriot Action" were substituted thereinfor the words " Ottoman Action."(6) Every reference to an "Ottoman Subject"shall be deemed to refer to persons who,being Ottoman Subjects, became, or shallbecome, or who, being the children of suchpersons, shaU become, British Subjects underor bv virtue of " The Cypras (Aimexation)Orders in Council, 1914 and 1917."(4) Ever J' Court and Judge exercising Ci\-il orCriminal Jurisdiction shall apply Ottoman Law,as from time to time altered or modified byCypras Statute Law, unless it shall be proved oradmitted that the Action or Ci^-il or CriminalProceeding is one in which Enghsh Law, as fromtime to time altered or modified by CyprusStatute Law, is apphcable.(5) Notwithstanding anything herein contained,in all proceedings and prosecutions for treasonand sedition the Law in force in England at thedate of the coming into force of this Order inregard theieto shall be apphed.(6) The Cyprus Courts of Justice AmendmentOrder, 1914, is hereby revoked without prejudiceto anything done thereunder.(7) This Order shall take effect as from thedate of the pubhcation thereof in the CyprusGazette.AND the Right Honourable Walter Hume Long,one of His Majesty's Principal Secretaries ofState, is to give the necessary directions hereinaccordingly.Almeric FitzRoy.(M.P. 1355/14.)BY <strong>THE</strong> HIGHANo. 190.COMMISSIONER.PROCLAMATION.REQUIRING RETURNS TO BE MADE OF BRITISHPROPERTY IN TERRITORY IN HOSTILE OCCUPA­TION AND CLAIMS BY BRITISH SUBJECTSAGAINST PERSONS, FIRMS, COMPANIES ANDCORPORATIONS RESIDING OR CARRYING ONBUSINESS IN SUCH TERRITORY.JOHN E. All British Subjects in Cyprus who areentitled to property of any description whateverwhich is situate in territory in hostile occupationor to any mterest in or claim in regard to suchproperty or have claims against Persons, Firms,Companies and Corporations residing or carryingon business in such territory shall within onemonth from the date of this Proclamation makeretums of their said property or claims to thePubUc Custodian of Enemy Property.2. The said retums shall be made in such formand with such particulars as the Pubhc Custodianmay require.3.
