A BILLFOR THE PROTECTION OF WOMEN AND GIRLS.BE it enacted by His Excellency the High Commissionerand Commander-in-Chief of the Island of Cvprus,with the advice and consent of the Legislative Councilthereof, as follows •—1. This Law may be cited as the Women and Girls short titleProtection Law, 1918.2. Any person who—(1) Procures or attempts to procure any girl or womanunder twenty-one years of age, not being a commonprostitute or of known immoral character, to haveunlawful carnal connexion, either within or withoutCyprus, with any other person; or(2) Procures or attempts to procure any woman orgirl to become, either within or without Cyprus, acommon prostitute ; or(3) Procures or attempts to procure any woman orgirl to leave Cyprus, with intent that she maybecome an inmate of or frequent a brothel elsewhere; or(4) Procures or attempts to procure any woman orgirl to leave her usual place of abode in Cyprus(such place not being a brothel), with intent thatshe may, for the purposes of prostitution, becomean inmate of or frequent a brothel within or withoutCyprus,shall be Uable to imprisonment for any term not exceedingtwo years, with or without hard labour.Procuration3. Any person who— ProcuringQ) By threats or intimidation procures or attempts to ofwomS*procure any woman or girl to have any unlawful by threatscarnal connexion, either within or without Cyprus; CrlXtnisorteringdrugs.(2) By false pretences or false representations procuresany woman or girl, not being a common prostituteor of known immoral character, to have any unlawfulcarnal connexion, either within or withoutCyprus ; or(3) Applies, administers to, or causes to be taken byany woman or girl any drug, matter, or thing,with intent to stupefy or overpower so as therebyto enable any person to have unlawful carnal connexionwith such woman or girl,shall be Hable to imprisonment for any term not exceedingtwo years, with or without hard labour.4. A member of the Police force may take into custody Arrestwithout a warrant any person whom he shall have good ^a^antcause to suspect of having committed or of attempting to ofpersomscommit an}^ offence against Section 2 of this law. agaS^^Section 2.6.
