CLAUSON.] [May 2, 1918.BE it enacted by His Excellency the High Commissionerand Commander-in-Chief of the Island of Cypru^,with the advice and consent of the Legislative Councilthereof, as follows:—1. This Law may be cited as the Land Acquisition short title*(Amendment) Law, 1918, and shall be read as one withthe Land Acquisition Law, 1899 (hereinafter referred toas the Principal Law) and the Principal Law and thisLaw may be collectively cited as the Land AcquisitionLaws, 1899 and 1918.2. In the Principal Law, Section 2, the paragraph con- Amendmenttaining the definition of "land" is hereby repealed. OMSJQ.Y^The following definitions are hereby added ibo the saidsection:—The word "land" includes land (with the grazing rights,and all water and water rights on over or under suchland), buildings, trees, easements, and standing crops.It also includes other water and water rights when theacquisition thereof is required for the construction orservice of any railway or harbour, provided that thereshall not be any other reasonably accessible means ofobtaining such water as is necessary for the purposes ofsuch railway or harbour.The words " undertaking of public utility " means anyundertaking of a public nature, civil naval or mihtary,which the High Commissioner shall by notification in theCyprus Gazette declare to be an undertaking of pubUcutiUty, whether the cost of such undertaking is to beborne by the public funds of Cyprus or by His Majesty'sNaval or Military Authorities.8. The Principal Law, Sections 7, 11 and 13, shall be Amendmentamended by the insertion after the word "Government" OMSQOV'?of the words " or His Majesty's Naval or Mihtary Autho- ii and is.rities as the case may be ". '4. The Principal Law, Sec. 9, is hereby amended as AmendmentJ.
