CLAUSON,A PROCLAMATION.High Commissioner and •Commander-in-Chief.WHEREAS by a Proclamation, dated the 5thAugust, 1914, Martial Law was proclaimed inand over the Island of Cyprus :AND WHEREAS by Proclamations, dated the 2ndSeptember, 1915, and the 5th September, 1917,regulations were made with respect to the currency inthe Island by providing notes issued by the Govemment:AND WHEREAS it is expedient to make furtherregulations in respect thereto :NoAV I, John Eugene Clauson, Major in the Reserveof Oflficers of the Corps of Royal Engineers, KnightCommander of the Most Distinguished Order of SaintMichael and Saint George, Commander of the RoyalVictorian Order, His Majesty's High Commissionerand Commander-in-Chief in and over the Island ofCyprus, do hereby order and proclaim as follows :—1. This Proclamation may be cited as the CurrencyProclamation, 1918, and shall be read as one with theabove recited Proclamations, dated the 2nd September,1915, and the Sth September, 1917, and the saidProclamations and this Proclamation may together beoited as the Currency Proclamations, 1915 to 1918.2. The Currency Commissioner may issue furthernotes for the value of five shillings, in the prescribedform, copies of which may be seen at the branches ofthe Imperial Ottoman Bank and at the oflfice of theTreasurer. The notes so issued shall be redeemed atthe expiration of eighteen months of the termiuationof the present war or before that date should theGovemment so desire.3. Subject to the provisions of clause 2 of thisProclamation, all the provisions of the said Proclamation,dated the 2nd September, 1915, shaU apply toany notes issued in pursuance of this Proclamation.Given at Nicosia this 10th day of April, 1918.GOD SAVE <strong>THE</strong> KING.(M.P. 1127/14.)No. 193.ORDER OF HIS EXCELLENCY <strong>THE</strong> HIGHCOMMISSIONER AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF.JOHN E. CLAUSON,High Commissioner and Commander-in-Chief.WHEREAS by an Order, dated the 7th July,1917, a Statutory List of Cypras was declaredof persons or bodies of persons with whomtrade by all persons or bodies of persons, incorporatedor unincorporated, resident, carrying onbusiness, or being in Cyprus, was forbidden astherein mentioned.AND WHEREAS it is desirable that the saidOrder, dated the 7th July, 1917, should beamended in manner hereinafter appearing.Now I, John Eugene Clauson, Major in theReserve of Oflficers of the Corps of Royal Engineers,Knight Commander of the Most DistinguishedOrder of Saint Michael and Saint George, Commanderof the Royal Victorian Order, His Majesty'sHigh Commissioner and Commander-in-Chief inand over the Island of Cyprus, do hereby orderas foUows:—1. The current Statutory List of Cyprus ishereby declared to be No. 46A the ConsolidatingStatutory List, complete to the 1st Febraary,1918. (The dates which precede the names appearingin the said Consohdating Statutory listdo not form part of such list for the purpose ofthe Statutory List of Cyprus.)2. No person shaU carry on the business of asoap manufacturer without a hcence in thatbehalf to be obtained from the Commissioner ofthe District in which the soap manufactory issituated.2. The use of cotton-seed oU for the manufactureof soap is hereby prohibited.3.
