CLAUSON,ORDER.High Commissioner.IN exercise of the powers vested in him by theDiseases of Plants Prevention Law, 1893, HisExcellency the High Commissioner is pleased to orderand it is hereby ordered as foUows :—Within any area declared to be infected \^th thedisease known as Almond Pest (Evrytoma Amygdalis);the following provisions shall have effect:—Every person owning or having in his possession anyalmond tree situate within the said area shall(a) In the month of April in the year 1918 and inevery subsequent year apply to the trunk of everysuch almond tree from the base to the height ofthe first branching, a solution of lime consistingof 25 parts of lime in 100 parts of water.{b) At the time of collection of ripe almonds separateall those bearing on the outer covering orshell one or more reddish-violet or yellowish spotsand bum them forthwith.(c) Before the first day of September, in the year1918 and in every subsequent year remove allalmonds from his trees.{d) Continuously collect and burn at once all almondsthat have fallen on the ground, and keep theground, beneath the trees free from weeds, stonesand debris.The 18th day of March, 1918.(M.P. 1080/15.)No. 140.ORDER OF HIS EXCELLENCY <strong>THE</strong> HIGHCOMMISSIONER.<strong>THE</strong> DISEASES OF PLANTS PREVENTIONLAW, 1893.JOHN E. CLAUSON,ORDER.High Commissioner.IN exercise of the powers vested in him by theDiseases of Plants Prevention Law, 1893, HisExcellency the High Commissioner is pleased to order,and it is liereby ordered as follows :—Within any area declared to be infected with thedisease known as Codlin Moth (Carpocapsa Pomonella)the foUowing provisions shall have effect :—Every person owning or having in his possession anyapple, pear, quince or walnut tree situate within thesaid area whose trees are affected or suspected of beingaffected with the said disease shall(a) In the month of April in the year 1918 and inevery subsequent year apply to the tmnk of everysuch apple, pear, or quince tree from the base tothe height of the first branching, and to thetrunk of every such walnut tree from the base toa height of not less than 6 feet, a solution of UmeconsistinL' of 2.") parts of lime in 100 parts ofwater.{b) CoUect daily during the fraiting period m 1918and in every subsequent year all fruits that shallhave faUen from the said trees and forthwitheither bum the said fraits or place them in a holein the ground covered with in any case not lessthan half an oke of lime and if any furtherdepesits of such fallen fruits are placed in thesame hole every such deposit shall be also coveredwith in any case not less than half an oke of lime.(c) Remove aU old rough bark that in the opinionof the representative of the Agricultural Departmentmay afford shelter to worms or chrysalids.{d) During the month of June in the year 1918and in every subsequent year place not less thanone (or such further number as may be requiredaccording to the size of the tree) straw or clothband round the trunk of every such tree and onceevery week thereafter until all fruit shall havebeen collected from every such tree press the saidband or bands up and down the trunk of everysuch tree so as to crush any worms or chrysalidsor any insects that may be thereunder.(e) Carefully keep the ground for the space of fourfeet round the trunk of every such tree free fromweeds, stones and all debris.2.
