CLAUSON,ORDER.High Commissioner.IN exercise of the powers vested in him by theDiseases of Plants Prevention Law, 1893, HisExcellency the High Commissioner is pleased to orderand it is hereby ordered as follows :—Within any area declared to be infected with carobplant disease the following provisions shall have eflfect :-1. From and after the date in any year fixed by theCommissioner for the commencement of the gatheringof carobs within the said area, all owners of carob-treesshall remove from any carob-tree owned by them allcarob beans suffering from or suspected of sufferingfrom the plant disease called Cecidomyia Ceratoniae(locally called brachycarpia) as well as all flowers andthe bare axes of any cluster from which stunted fruitmay have fallen.2. All such carob beans, flowers and axes as aforesaidshall be knocked oflf from the trees, and the fruitso removed shall be forthwith collected and burned, orburied in a pit and well covered with quicklime insuch manner as shall satisfy the Director of Agricultureor other official of the Agricultural Department.3. The above mentioned steps shall be completedwithin 30 days from the dates fixedfor the commencementof the gathering of carobs within the said area.4. Any person storing, selling or buying any diseasedcarob beans as aforesaid or mixing the same with soundfruit or otherwise dealing with them in any way whatsoever,shall be guilty of a contravention of this Orderand may be punished accordingly.5. The Director of Agriculture and other officials ofthe Agricultural Department are hereby authorised andappointed to see that the provisions of this Order arecarried into effect.6. CLAUSON,High Commissioner.IN exercise of the powers vested in him by theDiseases of Plants Prevention Law, 1893, HisExcellency the High Commissioner is pleased to declarethe following area to be a place infected with carobplant disease :—All that area within the Districts of Kyrenia andFamagusta comprised witliin the following boundaries,namely:—From Cape Kormakiti to the junction ofthe Aloupos River with the sea on the west; thence inan easterly direction along the Aloupos River to thevillage of Kalochorio ; thence in a line running northand passing just to the east of Kalochorio, Tremithiaand Koutelos Chiftliks, Styllomenos and Karpasia toMyrtou ; thence in a north-easterly direction to KornosVounos; thence along the mountain ridge (as seenfrom the north of the Kyrenia range) passing justsouth of Kantara Castle, Ayios Photios, Kavalopetra,and Eptakomi; and thence in a direct line to the seaat Skales Nisha. The northern boundary being thesea coast from Cape Kormakiti to Skales Nisha.Srd August, 1918. CLAUSON,ORDER.High Commissioner.IN exercise of the powers vested in him by theDiseases of Plants Prevention Law, 1893, HisExcellency the High Commissioner is pleased to orderand it is hereby ordered as follows :—Within any area declared to be infected with thedisease known as the Sirividhi of Wheat (Tinea Temperatella)the following provisions shall have eflfect:—The owner of every field of wheat situated withinthe said area whose wheat shall be affected or suspectedof being aflfected with Sirividhi, shall after the harvestburn the stubble remaining on the said field and shallplough it to a depth of at least 4 inches. Both operationsshould be carried out as soon as possible afterharvest, and in any case the burning shall have beencompleted not later than the 1st September, 1918, andthe ploughing not later than the 15th February, 1919,to the satisfaction of the Director of Agriculture or ofsuch person or persons as shall be appointed by him tosee that the provisions of this Order are carried intoeflfect.The Director of Agriculture and other officials ofthe Agricultural Department are hereby authorised andappointed to see that the provisions of this Order arecarried into efifect.Dated the 9th day of August, 1918.(M.P. 901/18.)ΚΥΠΡΙΑΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ
