Research beyond that which is required for the conferralof the advanced degreeii. Publications, performances, presentations, compositions,or other scholarly or professional activity appropriate toone’s disciplineiii.Participation and/or positions of leadership inprofessional organizationsiv. Successful educational administrative experience orv. Service to students, to the University, and/or to thecommunity.A minimum of five years at the Associate Professor rank.The promotion to Professor is reserved for those who haveearned tenure and have maintained the excellent standardsof teaching, scholarship, and service required for tenure. Inaddition, those awarded the rank of full professor will havedemonstrated continuing growth after receiving the rank ofAssociate Professor, and should have made significantcontributions to the University beyond those required for theawarding of Associate Professor rank. These contributionsshould encompass two or more of the following areas:teaching, scholarship, campus leadership, and/or service.Visiting LecturerTerminal appointments may be for a special session(workshop, summer school), for a semester or for a time upto one year. Appointments as Lecturer may be made forspecial contributions by persons of competence in variousfields.Temporary (part-time or emergency faculty)These shall be terminal appointments with requirements forrank the same as for regular faculty.Professor EmeritusThis honorary designation may be awarded to those facultymembers who have retired after at least twenty years ofdistinctive service to the university.Adjunct FacultyThis non-voting faculty designation is for individuals hiredannually.
