If the loan is approved, a promissory note must be signed by theemployee affirming that the full purchase price of the computer (including sales tax) willbe reimbursed to the <strong>University</strong> through payroll deduction. This loan MUST be paid in fullby May 31 of the fiscal year in which the loan was approved or upon separation from the<strong>University</strong>. Should the employee leave the <strong>University</strong>, for any reason, the remainingbalance of the loan will be due and may result in the balance of the loan being paid fromthe employee’s final paycheck.Computers purchased for personal use will be sold at the university’s cost plusapplicable sales tax. However, all ongoing support will be the responsibility of theemployee and the vendor. If an employee wishes to use his/her personal computer oncampus and utilize the backbone for connecting to the Internet and campus related fileservers, the Information Technology Services staff will assist in the setup andmaintenance of the computer, provided enterprise hardware standards are followed.Tenured <strong>Faculty</strong> RegaliaWhen faculty are awarded Tenure, the university will contribute up to $525 toward thecost of regalia if the faculty member wishes to purchase their own regalia. Newly tenuredfaculty should contact the Office of the Vice President for the Academic Affairs withquestions.<strong>Faculty</strong> Development OpportunitiesMentoring. Each new faculty member is assigned to an experienced faculty memberwho will assist him/her through the first three years at <strong>Lee</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Mentors facilitatethree major areas of adjustment: social, institutional and professional. It is the mentor’sresponsibility to introduce the new faculty member to people with shared interests and tohelp him/her make a successful adjustment to Cleveland. If necessary, the mentor willalso assist the new faculty member in acquiring the requisite classroom skills byobservation, coaching, and modeling. Throughout the first three years of the facultymember’s career, the mentor will serve as his/her advocate.New <strong>Faculty</strong> Seminars. New faculty also have the opportunity to attend a monthlyorientation seminar intended to provide information about teaching at <strong>Lee</strong> <strong>University</strong>.6 - 9 Benefits of <strong>Faculty</strong> Service
