_________________LEE UNIVERSITY FACULTY HANDBOOK & CONSTITUTION_________________<strong>Faculty</strong> Parliamentarian is appointed by the President from the voting members of thefaculty. The Parliamentarian advises the presiding officer and members of the faculty asto the proper conduct of faculty concerns.<strong>Faculty</strong> Scholarship and Research Awards Committee is comprised of the chair andfive full–time faculty members with doctorates appointed by the President. The committeeincludes the immediately previous recipients of the Excellence in Scholarship Award. Thepurpose of the committee is to select the Excellence in Scholarship Award winner and toaward research grants based on faculty proposals.Fine Arts Committee is composed of three faculty members, three studentrepresentatives and a chairperson. This committee plans programs designed to enrichthe students’ cultural life, such as concerts by professional entertainers, film series,dramas, lectures, art exhibits and music festivals presented each fall and spring.The Fulbright Fellowship Advising Committee’s mission is to assist students who aregraduating in attaining the Student Fulbright Fellowship. The members of this committeespend time with the students who apply to guide and direct them by evaluating theirapplications and proposals. The FFAC will make recommendations upon interviewcompletions on behalf of the students to Fulbright.Global Perspectives Committee is the governing body for the Global Perspectivesportion of the General Education Core. They standardize existing study abroadprograms, approve new programs, and approve independent experiences for GlobalPerspectives credit.Graduate Council serves as the administrative advisory group for all graduate programsand as a review board for all academic policies and regulations for graduate programs.They also review university-wide guidelines regarding graduate matters; and approvecurricular changes recommended by departments and schools relative to graduatecurricula.The Human and Animal Subjects Research Advisory Committee reviews researchproposals to make sure they meet federal guidelines and the highest ethical standards forworking with human subjects and with animals as research subjects.The Institutional Effectiveness Committee works with the Office of Assessment todevelop the assessment plan for university-wide programs and initiatives. In addition, thecommittee periodically reviews the annual unit assessment process for adherence to“best practices” in higher education assessment.The Institutional Technology Steering Committee sets the technology vision, ensuringclose alignment with the vision and mission of the university. It reviews, approves andprioritizes important technology projects and reviews and affirms the standards ofoperational effectiveness.The Intellectual Property Review Board is an advisory body responsible for evaluatingintellectual property generated by <strong>Lee</strong> <strong>University</strong> employees as described in theIntellectual Property Policy. The board reports its recommendations directly to the VicePresident for Academic Affairs.The Judicial Council Appeal Board hears appeals brought by students who have seenthe Judicial Council for Student Discipline.Judicial Council for Student Discipline works with the Dean of Students to determinepenalties for infractions of the rules established by the Administration Sector.5 - 14 Responsibilities of the <strong>Faculty</strong>
