LEE UNIVERSITY FACULTY HANDBOOK & CONSTITUTIONappealing the summons. If an appeal is desired, the department chair or dean will furnisha letter outlining reasons that the work of the faculty member can not be made up orperformed by another person.If an appeal is denied, the faculty member should make every effort to perform asmany of his/her duties as possible. It is important that the department chair be keptupdated on jury schedules and be informed, in advance if possible, of conflicts that willimpact classes.ParkingThe university provides parking areas for all faculty members. To secure a parkingpermit each faculty member must register his/her automobile with the office of CampusSafety.Campus Emergency PlanThe university Campus Emergency Plan can be accessed by the following link:www.leeuniversity.edu/emergencyplan. The Plan is updated annually by August 1 and ismaintained by the office of the Director of Campus Safety. <strong>Faculty</strong> should review theplan and become familiar with any responsibilities and procedures that may fall to facultyin the case of an emergency.Teaching Schedule<strong>Faculty</strong> are expected to teach Monday through Friday. A member of the faculty mayrequest a temporary exception to this requirement by submitting a rationale and requestto the department chair. If the department chair approves the request, it will beforwarded to the dean who will send approved requests to the Vice President forAcademic Affairs for final approval.<strong>Faculty</strong> GrantsExternal Funding Opportunities and Grants<strong>Faculty</strong> may apply for external funding for university projects or programs incooperation with and approval through the university’s Office of Grants. The Director ofGrants is available to provide assistance to faculty who seek external funding.
