_________________LEE UNIVERSITY FACULTY HANDBOOK & CONSTITUTION_________________4.2 procuring information from a professor’s computer hardware or software.4.3 taking exams, grade records, forms used in grading, books, papers, or othermaterials related to grading or evaluation of academic performance.DAL <strong>Faculty</strong> Procedure for Academic HonestyWhen any form of academic dishonesty occurs, the faculty member should contactthe DAL <strong>Faculty</strong> Services Office. The Director of <strong>Faculty</strong> Services will work with therespective faculty member to resolve the situation. The resulting course of action couldrange from a warning to a student being awarded an F for the course. Students given anF for cheating will not be permitted to withdraw from the course.Student Appeal Process and <strong>Faculty</strong> CommunicationDAL <strong>Faculty</strong> members should be aware that students will retain the right to appealdecisions made in regard to grades or cases of academic dishonesty. For this reason, allcommunications with students and staff should be conducted through the <strong>Lee</strong> <strong>University</strong>e-mail system or through the Learning Management System.If the student would like to appeal a final decision made by the instructor of thecourse, the following process will be used:1. The instructor will inform the student of the right to appeal and provide him/herwith information on how to contact the Director of <strong>Faculty</strong> Services.2. The student will submit his/her statement of the situation to the Director of <strong>Faculty</strong>Services along with any supporting documentation that can be provided.3. The instructor will submit all available correspondence and documentation of thesituation to the Director of <strong>Faculty</strong> Services.4. On receipt of all documentation from the student and faculty member, the decisionon the appeal will be decided by a three-person ad hoc committee, chaired by theDirector of <strong>Faculty</strong> Services.5. The final decision of this appeal will be submitted to the student and to the facultymember.All students and faculty complaints and grievances may be elevated to the DALExecutive Director’s office for further review.Chapel and <strong>University</strong> EventsAlthough DAL faculty members are not required to attend chapel and convocationservices on campus, they are recommended to attend on campus or via live stream whenpossible. Chapel provides the university community with an opportunity for corporateworship which is central to the mission of <strong>Lee</strong> <strong>University</strong>, and it is essential that thefaculty be part of that worship.The university broadcasts via live stream on the Internet a number of chapel services,Convocation, Homecoming, Commencements, select concerts, and sporting events.Additional events are also recorded and available to view on the university’s YouTubechannel.The DAL will notify faculty when live stream chapels and events are upcoming whenpossible.8 – 6 Division of Adult Learning
