_________________LEE UNIVERSITY FACULTY HANDBOOK & CONSTITUTION_________________Director of Human ResourcesThe Director of Human Resources is directly responsible to the Vice President forBusiness and Finance. The duties and responsibilities are:Direct the interpretation and application of established human resources policies,ensuring fairness and consistency.1. Formulate and recommend personnel policies and objectives for the university.2. Placement of support staff, assisting in the retention and attraction of qualifiedemployees, and complying with equal employment opportunity and othergovernmental regulations.3. Administer compensation policies and structures for support staff and evaluatecompensation practices, periodically participating in compensation surveys by thirdparties.4. Oversee all benefit programs and services, ensure programs that assist in attractingand retaining employees at a reasonable cost to the university.5. Provide guidance and assistance on such matters as employee benefits,management/ employee communications, grievances and appeals, equalemployment opportunity, and employee conduct and discipline.6. Administer the university’s employee wellness program activities aimed at improvingemployee health and well-being; makes recommendations on changes or additionsto the program to reflect the changing needs of employees.7. Plan and administer employee training and development programs to achieve bothorganizational goals and personnel management objectives.8. Develop, recommend and monitor the Human Resources Department operatingbudget.9. Conduct a continuing study of all personnel policies, programs, and practices to keepthe university abreast of current practice and informed of new developments.10. Direct the preparation and maintenance of reports that are necessary to carry outfunctions of the department; prepare periodic reports to management as necessary,or as requested.11. Direct various activities designed to promote high employee morale.12. Conduct all customer service activities in a courteous manner while displaying apleasant and responsive attitude.13. Administer the Tuition Waiver Exchange Programs with designated institutions.Accounting and Budget Coordinator1. Assist the Vice President for Business and Finance in creating and maintaining theuniversity’s budget and all policies and procedures therein.2. Serves as a resource and liaison between university administrators (those withbudget oversight) and the Vice President for Business and Finance.3. Approves all requests for budget revisions.4. Prepares monthly financial statements, reconciliation of the general ledger, andvarious accounting/audit schedules.5. Prepares comprehensive reports and analysis for use by management in decisionmaking or to advise university offices.6. Classifies, summarizes and reports on the university’s financial activities.7. Responsible for fixed asset management.8. Assist the Vice President for Business and Finance in the development andimplementation of institutional finance policies and procedures.9. Oversees financial reporting and forecasting.3 - 40 Organization
