_________________LEE UNIVERSITY FACULTY HANDBOOK & CONSTITUTION_________________students preparing to teach practical experience in working with professional associationson the problems of the teaching profession and society, and to provide studentspreparing to teach with the history, organizations, policies, ethics and programs of theprofessional associations.The Math Club (Lee Prime) provides enrichment activities for students interested inmathematics.Middle East Club is an advocacy group whose primary purpose is to educate and fosterparticipation among the campus and local communities on issues concerning thecountries, people and interest of the Middle East region of the world.The Model U.N. is designed to furnish a structure and forum for students to work with themost pressing international issues from a perspective outside of the classroom, and thusbroaden their awareness of the world of politics. The club will promote interest andunderstanding of the nations of the world, help students gain a broader perspective ofglobal issues and the role of the United Nations in world politics, and encourageinvestigation into the field of international studies.Music Educator’s National Conference is a professional organization for anyoneplanning to go into any phase of music teaching. Programs, activities, and lectures aredesigned for the spiritual, intellectual, and professional growth of the student.National Association of Teachers in Singing purpose is to educate and inspire. Thegoal of this organization is to contribute guidance toward the academic, intellectual andsocial welfare of its members, to provide supplementation where present educationleaves off and to encourage public interest and support of vocal music.Phi Alpha Theta national history honor society gives students the opportunity toparticipate in conferences including presenting papers and competing for awards. Lee’schapter of this society is Alpha Kappa Eta.Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division of the largest business career studentorganization in the world. PBL exists to bring business and education together in apositive working relationship. The Lee University Chapter of PBL encourages membersin the development of projects which contribute to the improvement of business andcommunity. Students from all majors are welcome to join.Phi Delta Psi (Psychology Club) promotes interest in the field of psychology; developssocial and academic interest for fellowship among psychology majors; providesopportunities for learning and for keeping up with Christian developments in the field bysponsoring and attending seminars, lectures, and regularly scheduled meetings; andpromotes any campus activities relating to psychology.Phi Eta Sigma (National Freshman Honor Society). Eligible sophomore scholars mustbe currently enrolled in a Lee University baccalaureate degree program, have achieved acumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 and be ranked in the top 20 percent ofhis/her class. The academic work upon which the grade-point average is based iscompleted during the first year of enrollment at Lee.Phi Mu Alpha (Sinfonia) encourages and actively promotes the highest standards ofcreativity, performance, education, and research in music in America. This fraternitypurposes to develop and encourage loyalty to the Alma Mater, to foster the mutualwelfare and brotherhood of students of music, to develop the truest fraternal spirit amongits members, and to instill in all people an awareness of music’s important role in theenrichment of the human spirit.5 - 20 Responsibilities of the Faculty

This club also explores topics to a greater depth since time is a factor in theclassroom.Pi Alpha Sigma (Koine Greek Language Club) is dedicated to maintaining the interestof and active participation of students in the reading of the New Testament in its originallanguage.Pi Delta Omicron is an honor society for religion majors.Pi Delta Phi (French Honor Society) purposes to recognize outstanding scholarship inthe French languages and its literature, to increase the knowledge and appreciation ofAmericans for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and to stimulateand encourage cultural activities.Pi Kappa Lambda (Music Honor Society) seeks to recognize and encourage thehighest level of musical achievement and academic scholarship. The Society recognizesand honors persons who have enhanced their talents by serious, diligent, and intelligentstudy.Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Club) is an honor society that was founded with thepurpose of bringing together students and faculty in order to stimulate scholarship andintelligent interest in political science. The society functions at the national and chapterlevels, sponsoring programs and events of value to the profession and teaching ofpolitical science.Psi Chi is the national honor society in psychology. Its purpose is to encourage,stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields,particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.Public Relations Student Society of America seeks to cultivate a favorable andmutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relationspractitioners. PRSSA has more than 7,000 members in 227 chapters on collegecampuses across the country.Sigma Alpha Iota is an international music fraternity for women who have a sincereinterest in music. Members purpose to uphold the highest standards of music, to furtherthe development of music in America and throughout the world, to give inspiration andencouragement to members, and to adhere to the highest standards of citizenship inschool, community, and fraternity life.Sigma Delta Pi is an honor society for Spanish language students.Sigma Tau Delta is a national English honor society whose purposes are literary,educational, and charitable. The society strives to confer distinction for high achievementin English language and literature; provide cultural stimulation on university campusesand promote interest in literature and the English language in the surroundingcommunities; foster the discipline of English in all its aspects, including creative andcritical writing; promote good citizenship among its members; and exhibit high standardsof academic excellence.Society for Collegiate Journalists promotes an understanding of journalism and itsfunction in society and promotes the development and support of Lee’s journalismprogram.
