_________________LEE UNIVERSITY FACULTY HANDBOOK & CONSTITUTION_________________Alpha Chi is a national honor society whose major purpose is the promotion andrecognition of scholarship. Membership is limited to the top ten percent of the junior andsenior classes.Alpha Kappa Delta is an international sociology honor society whose primary focus is topromote social research and provide students with an opportunity to engage in academicdiscussions to supplement their in–class lectures. In addition, the chapter will provide forspecial recognition of those students who show a particular interest and are doingoutstanding work in the field of sociology.Alpha Phi Delta (Pre-Med) seeks to encourage academic excellence and spiritualmaturity in student planning to serve in the health professions, while promoting thesignificance of Christian character in those professions. Membership is open to all healthrelated majors who have completed 45 semester hours and have maintained an overallG.P.A. of 3.0.Alpha Psi Omega (Drama Honor Society) seeks to develop dramatic talent and the artof acting, to cultivate a taste for the best in drama, and to foster cultural and spiritualvalues.American Choral Directors Association-Student Chapter fosters and promotes choralsinging, the finest types of choral music and attaining the highest level possible inmusicianship and artistic performance.American Medical Student Association (pre-med chapter) helps provide anenvironment that supports the creative ideas of physicians-in-training, serves as a forumfor discussion of health issues, seeks to affect change in medical education processes, topromote programs that enhance the quality of health care in the community, and todevelop health-care leadership.Anthropology Club is for students who have interest or professional goals in thediscipline of anthropology. The club will bring guest speakers to campus to presentinformation on topics that are timely and who will enhance the research and professionaldevelopment of the club’s membership.Aria da Capo exists to familiarize students with the world of opera and to provideopportunities to attend performances of opera companies in Atlanta, Knoxville, andChattanooga. Membership is not limited to voice majors but is open to all who areinterested in opera, whether they perform or just enjoy listening.Art Club (C.I.V.A.-Christians in Visual Arts) is an open membership club dedicated topromoting the visual arts on the university campus and giving interested studentsopportunities to engage in creative artistic activities and events.Collegiate Middle Level Association is a student organization which supports andencourages teacher candidates interested in the education of young adolescents.Through campus and community activities, members will promote the importance ofmiddle level education, concepts and practices. Membership is open to all students witha major or minor in middle grades education.Council for Exceptional Children advances the education of individuals withexceptionalities and promotes related educational, scientific and charitable purposes.The organization is open to students, faculty and local persons interested in theeducation of individuals with exceptionalities.5 - 18 Responsibilities of the <strong>Faculty</strong>
