MAY 2009SOLICITATION FOR OFFERS OUTPATIENT CLINIC <strong>SFO</strong> NO. VA-101-XX-RP-XXXX[INSERT LOCATION OF FACILITY]Windows in examination and treatment rooms shall be designed to maintain patient privacy.Use clerestory windows, patterned or obscured glazing, or other methods as appropriate.Windows shall comply with Security requirements in SECTION 4 <strong>of</strong> this solicitation. Providesecurity screens where required by SECTION 4.(1) //Safety GlazingGlaze windows occurring in security exam rooms or security holding room with 7/16" thicklaminated glass. Provide laminated glass for interior panes <strong>of</strong> double-glazed windows in theserooms.//C. Louvers and ScreensProvide louvers in wall openings where required for ventilation. Design louvers andanchorage for wind loads in accordance with building codes. Louvers shall bear AMCAcertified rating seals for air performance and water penetration ratings. Provide bird screenson mechanical ventilation supply and exhaust openings in exterior walls. Provide insectscreens on the inside <strong>of</strong> louvered openings in exterior walls where there are no ductconnections.Comply with security requirements in SECTION 4 <strong>of</strong> this solicitation.D. Exterior DoorsEntrance doors shall be //revolving// //automatic sliding// //swinging// anodized aluminumconstruction with safety glazing and shall comply with energy and sustainability requirements.Swinging exterior doors and frames, except entrance doors, shall be heavy duty, insulated, fullflush, hollow steel construction. Exterior doors shall be weather-stripped, self-closing, andopen outward. Door hardware shall comply with applicable portions <strong>of</strong> SECTION 7 <strong>of</strong> thissolicitation. Provide latch guards and hinges with non-removable pins to deter tampering orunauthorized entry.Doors for vehicular access, including doors to //warehouse,// //engineering shops,// //spacescontaining building service equipment,// //and enclosed ambulance entry// shall be //insulated,industrial grade sectional overhead doors// //overhead coiling doors//. Nominal size <strong>of</strong> thedoor opening shall be //8’-0" wide x 9’-6" high// //[____]//. Doors shall be fully weather-strippedand include an electric operator and manual chain hoist operation. Operator controls shall belocated on the secure (interior) side <strong>of</strong> the opening and shall incorporate a cylinder lock.Provide safeties, including door edge sensors. Overhead door(s) shall not have vision lights.(1) Automatic DoorsDesign automatic doors to operate manually in event <strong>of</strong> power failure. Equip controls withsafety devices for pedestrian protection. Provide door operator controls and equipment thatare easily accessible for maintenance. Design automatic doors to open from both sides.E. Ro<strong>of</strong>sProvide ro<strong>of</strong>ing systems to comply with building codes and fire resistance requirements.Design all ro<strong>of</strong>s with slope to ro<strong>of</strong> drains or gutters. Ro<strong>of</strong>s shall not slope to level valleys, butmay have one-way slopes to gutters at gravel stop edges.Size ro<strong>of</strong> drains and overflow drains, scuppers, or gutters; and leaders or downspouts tocomply with plumbing codes. Locate drains at points <strong>of</strong> maximum deck deflection wherepossible. Coordinate ro<strong>of</strong> drainage with site (storm) drainage.
