VA-101-XX-RP-XXXX[INSERT LOCATION OF FACILITY](2) ConfigurationEach room shall be a minimum <strong>of</strong> 6 feet x 8 feet x 8 feet [1.58 m x 2.4 m x 2.4 m] or accordingto BICSI Wiring Standards for the areas, whichever is greater. Terminal Cabinets (Optional)Terminal cabinets may be used where the number <strong>of</strong> outlets served is minimal, the distance <strong>of</strong>the run is in excess <strong>of</strong> 300 feet [90 m] from the otherwise nearest vertically stackedTelecommunications Room, and/or the cost <strong>of</strong> providing a Telecommunication Room isprohibitive. The use <strong>of</strong> terminal cabinets as a substitute for Telecommunications Rooms willnot be approved.Where required, each cabinet shall be not less than 16-gauge steel with doors and concealedhinges attached by welding.Doors must be secured by a lock with a minimum <strong>of</strong> two keys.Shall be thoroughly cleaned and painted at the factory with primer and the OEM's standardfinish.Each cabinet shall have a backboard covering the entire interior surface <strong>of</strong> the back <strong>of</strong> eachcabinet if equipment-mounting rails are not required.Cabinets shall have a minimum inside depth <strong>of</strong> 16 in [400 mm] from the inside <strong>of</strong> the door tothe face <strong>of</strong> the backboard.For Special Systems, provide equipment-mounting rails, guides, and shelves in lieu <strong>of</strong> thebackboard. However, a backboard is acceptable if the cabinet is used solely for theinterconnection and distribution <strong>of</strong> systems wires or cables where active or electronicequipment is not provided.I.
