Curbs and GutterDesign all roads with integral concrete curbs and gutters per local standards andspecifications. Substitute free-standing or extruded curbs only when justified.(1) Curb RadiiThe radii <strong>of</strong> curbs at road intersections should be 30'-0" preferred, 25'-0" minimum.(2) Curb Access Ramps (Curb Cuts)Provide curb ramps to accommodate people with disabilities as well as lawnmowers.C. Pavement Marking and SigningProvide locations and details <strong>of</strong> pavement striping and signing for parking, roadways,crosswalks, accessible parking and routes, and other special areas.D. Pedestrian Pavement <strong>Construction</strong>Design walkways to provide clearly-defined, unobstructed, direct routes through the site,interconnecting site and building entryways, curb ramps, parking areas, pedestrianlandscaped features, such as open area plazas, courts, atriums, and other site elements.Construct walks <strong>of</strong> concrete. Reinforce the concrete pavement if subbase conditions warrant.Where pedestrian and vehicular pavements meet, thicken the subbase material.Pedestrian wearing course material may be rigid unit pavers (bricks, stone sets, concreteunits, large paving slabs, etc.). To facilitate use by people with disabilities, design a rigid base<strong>of</strong> concrete or asphaltic concrete beneath pavers.Walks should be at least 60" wide, except 96" minimum where abutting parking stalls.Design walks to accommodate people with disabilities. Eliminate steps unless unavoidable.5.2.7 ENTRANCES TO BUILDINGCoordinate work at entrances to buildings based on the requirements in the ArchitecturalCriteria. Particular reference is made to complying with vertical clearances <strong>of</strong> buildings andcanopies over roadways and vehicular access areas// and snow melting requirements atspecific entrances//.Provide access for ambulance entry.5.2.8 TRUCK DOCKDesign adequate space for truck maneuverability and parking <strong>of</strong> facility equipment, includingtrash dumpsters. Provide wheel path diagram to support turning movements <strong>of</strong> facility parkingequipment, delivery, and waste removal vehicles.5.2.9 PARKING FACILITIESDevelop sufficient new parking so that the total number <strong>of</strong> facility spaces will be the greater <strong>of</strong>[____] spaces, or as required by local codes.
