MAY 2009SOLICITATION FOR OFFERS OUTPATIENT CLINIC <strong>SFO</strong> NO. VA-101-XX-RP-XXXX[INSERT LOCATION OF FACILITY]E. Air OutletsProvide supply, return, and exhaust air outlets and inlets to ensure uniform distribution <strong>of</strong> airand avoid spot cooling and dead-end spaces without circulation. The air outlets shall notresult in a drafty and noisy environment. Capacity <strong>of</strong> a single air outlet shall be based on andlimited to meet the noise levels and uniform air distribution.6.4.15 INSULATIONProvide duct and piping insulation in accordance with the ASHRAE Standard 90.1. Externaland internal insulation for the equipment shall be in compliance with the manufacturer'sstandard practice.6.4.16 APPLICATIONSA. Isolation Exam Room RequirementsProvide at least two (2) treatment rooms to isolate potential TB patients until they arediagnosed and moved to an appropriate treatment facility. Each treatment room shall bedesigned to meet the following HVAC requirements:Constant Volume Supply and Exhaust AirIndividual Room Temperature ControlMinimum 12 Air Changes per HourNegative Air Balance (Exhaust Air = 120% <strong>of</strong> Supply Air)Dedicated Exhaust Fan (a common fan can be sued to serve two rooms)Comply with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) requirements for TuberculosisMaintain entire exhaust duct under negative air balance and allow the air to pass through theHEPA filters (MERV 17) and pre-filters (MERV 8). Discharge air from the ro<strong>of</strong> level from a 10-foot [3-meter] high stack at the discharge velocity <strong>of</strong> 3,500 FPM [17.8 m/s] discharge velocity.Care shall be taken to ensure that the exhaust air does not find its way into any outside airintakes and open windows. The minimum recommended distance between the air inlet andexhaust is 25 feet [7.62 m]. Increase this distance as required based on the outcome <strong>of</strong> thedispersion analysis to be performed by the Engineer.The Engineer shall provide a certificate showing compliance with the negative air balance ornegative air pressure by installing required controls and instruments.B. Air-Conditioning Systems – Miscellaneous AreasProvide dedicated and thermostatically-controlled air-conditioning systems for the criticalspaces identified below:Elevator Machine Room: inside design temperature and the range shall be based onthe manufacturer's recommendationsTelephone Equipment Room: refer to 6.8.2.J, Telephone Equipment RoomMain Computer Room: refer to 6.8.2.K, Main Computer Room(1) GeneralObtain project-specific scope <strong>of</strong> work and provide a HVAC system to serve the MRI Suite.Coordination with the MRI vendor is critical, as the mechanical system requirements shalldepend upon the actual make and model number.
