227and would rather the entire world go up in flames than surrender Israel tothe Sephardic leaders.3<strong>The</strong> classic promoter of the Algerian version, among the Sephardic leaders,is Professor André Chouraqui, the famous advisor for the integration ofexiles, whose story has already been told in this book. After the riots ofWadi Salib, Professor Chouraqui published an article in a prestigiousFrench newspaper. He also published his article in the “Jewish Chronicle”.In this way, he appeared upon the political arena of the State of Israel, andturned into an intellectual representative of the Sephardo-Mizrahi masses,particularly of those from North Africa. <strong>The</strong> thing that typifies ProfessorChouraqui and his activities is his strict avoidance of creating anythingoriginal at all. Chouraqui did not establish a political party. He did notcreate a social organization. He did not form a youth club. He was carefulnot to accept any administrative, or practical, responsibilities upon himself,and all his efforts were for one goal: To motivate the <strong>Ashkenazi</strong>m to carryout whatever Professor Chouraqui found to be important. <strong>The</strong> famousadvisor for the integration of exiles was an Algerian man who saw, upclose, the processes that took place in that country. From his experience,Professor Chouraqui concludes that the policies being carried out today bythe <strong>Ashkenazi</strong>m in the State of Israel constitute the most effective path forthe advancement of the Sephardo-Mizrahim, and that it is the most perfectbroom for sweeping away the <strong>Ashkenazi</strong>m from the State, when the timefor that arrives. In this light, Chouraqui concludes that Ashkenaz is doingthe work of the Sephardim, and that their role is only to encourage the<strong>Ashkenazi</strong>m to be quicker and more intense in carrying out their ownpolicies.Step by step, Dr. Chouraqui encourages the <strong>Ashkenazi</strong> establishment torealize his calculated Algerian plan.
