239Haroush. Ben Haroush is wild, Chouraqui is a charlatan and the twoministers are Marranos who are beholden to Mapai and represent Sepharadaccording to the instructions of the Ashkenazi leaders of Mapai. Thissituation exemplifies the Sephardic tragedy in the State of Israel. It shouldbe noted that Minister Sasson subscribes, in no small degree, to the“Algerian” point of view of Chouraqui, and against this background he hadseveral outbursts. Every Ashkenazi political party depends, as a practicalmatter – even if it will not admit this in practice – upon faith in Ashkenazisuperiority. The moment a Sephardi openly rebels against this superiority,he has no place within an Ashkenazi political party. The Ashkenazipolitical parties, primarily Mapai, have turned into a source of costumeparties in which unmasked Ashkenazim dance with Sephardo-Mizrahimwho wear various Marrano masks, and those who occassionaly removethem cease being “generic Jews”, but turn into zealous Sephardim,Yemenites or Iraqis. This regime of masks is rotton to its core and quicklycrumbles. The Ashkenazim demand clarity. At the same time, theSephardo-Mizrahi activists are required, by their people, to appear openlyas “men of their ethnic group” and to reveal their true faces. There was, however, an actual attempt to create a Sephardic political party. Thisattempt was doomed to failure from the start. In the current stage, theSephardo-Mizrahim can hope, at best, to register to vote for a Knesset thatwill obtain a few delegates. When the various leaders of the non-Ashkenazi peoples meet under the leadership of Sephardic leaders, in orderto lay the foundations of their political party, their shocking weakness willimmediately become obvious. Already in the first moments of the meeting, they are destined to discover that time is quickly running out for thecivilization of the golden age. This great era is stretched out on a canopy ofpurple. At its head are laid the brilliant writings of Maimonides, YehudahaLevi and Ibn Gabirol. But nevertheless, this era is quickly dying. It istired from its lengthly race to eternity. It has ceased believing that it is ableto continue its stubborn gallop and successfully compete with cosmic time. The era of the culture of the golden age is quickly sinking into the abyss ofno-time. This fact will become clear to the Sephardic leaders when theyassemble to establish their political party.
