237miraculously, and truly, overcome the retardation. If the Sephardimsuccessfully accomplish this revolution – something that is difficult tobelieve – they will cease being Sephardim, and they will becomeAshkenazim. But to the same extent that they carry out this revolution, their level will increase and their skill will strengthen so that they cancompete with Ashkenazim in the spheres of culture and public service. Theonly effective tool, that has the power to advance this revolution, isYiddish, the wonderful language that has the ability to penetrate deep intothe human spirit, and to accomplish a far-reaching transformation. Yiddishis, therefore, the great tool for curing Sephardo-Mizrahi retardation, but atthe same time, it is a tool for de-Sepharadation, and for the penetration ofAshkenazi values.6The Ashkenazi-Sephardi relationship in the State of Israel can now beclassified into two groups or two clusters. Ashkenazim are increasinglyentering the cluster, or group, whose name is the Sephardo-Mizrahimajority demographic. At the same time, the Sephardo-Mizrahi majoritydepends increasingly upon Ashkenazi abilities in technological, societal, military and other realms. There are two groups, and two clusters, theSephardic group in which Ashkenazim are also included, and theAshkenazic group in which Sephardim are also included. The Sephardigroup, the group that votes, with all the importance of a democratic society,is, in the final analysis, a paper group. However, the Ashkenazi group canbe divided into tens of strong groups, which encompass all the central strataof national life. In any meaningful confrontation, the strong Ashkenazigroups will prevail, with extraordinary ease, over the Sephardic papergroups. The various Ashkenazi groups are, in the final analysis, emissariesof the one group whose name is Ashkenazi time, or Ashkenazi dominionover time. This group is among the greatest in the modern world, perhapsthe greatest of them all, and by its power the surprising Ashkenaziinfluence, over great and many nations, was known. The Sephardim areable to influence the Ashkenazi group that encompasses them only on onecondition: That they turn into Ashkenazim and adopt Ashkenazi ways.
