2325The fuss surrounding the gap, in the State of Israel, between Ashkenaz andSepharad is an instructive example of the anti-Ashkenazi policies that arepursued by the government of Israel, as the Sephardic leaders inspire them.Today’s State of Israel is a Confederacy of Jewish Peoples that progressesaccording to Ashkenazi time. The stable order of such a diverseconfederacy can only be one that is based upon formal democraticfoundations that give each individual equal opportunity. This order is notan Ashkenazi invention, but rather it is the classic foundation of Westerncivilization, a foundation that the Jews have always supported in all stagesof its development. In the State of Israel, this order gives a great advantageto Ashkenazim, not because they are Ashkenazim, but because of theirsuperiority in everything related to talent and dominion over time. There isno fault or sin in this fact. Moreover: We are allowed to be proud of this, for despite the fact that local conditions, in the State of Israel, are notcomfortable for us, and despite the transition to a new language and thediscarding of our historical language, Yiddish, we still maintain greatsuperiority. Of course, there is a decisive value to heredity andenvironment. Superiority tends to propagate itself, and retardation tends topropagate itself too. In light of this, there is a real chance that Ashkenazisuperiority will continue in the State of Israel – with minor changes – to theend of generations. But even here, we should not be blamed. We did notsteal our superiority from anybody, but we created it with our own handsand through super-human efforts, and after we created it, we are allowed tonourish it and increase it as much as we can. A wonderful opportunity wasgiven to the Sephardo-Mizrahim, in the State of Israel, to successfullycompete with us. Through the transition to Modern Hebrew, we havecrippled ourselves severely, and we have given them a basic advantage. What more can be demanded from us? Material deficiencies will notprevent the Sephardo-Mizrahim from competing with us in the sphere ofculture. Currently, there is already great Sephardic wealth in the State ofIsrael, and in another 10-20 years Sepharad will have incredible treasureshere, enough to sustain a rich and brilliant Sephardic civilization. It is notmaterial deficiencies that cause Sepharad to stumble in the cultural sphere,
