On the personal lives of the various biblical personalities, whopreceded the prophets, the Patriarchs, the Judges and kings we arepresented with exhaustive biographical details, which describe the lives ofthese men from all sides, even from non-flattering angles. But in thebooks of the prophets we encounter an almost complete absence ofbiographical information about them. <strong>The</strong> prophetic portion of the Bible isthe non-biographical portion of the book of books. <strong>The</strong> book of Jeremiahis one of the few books in which we find at least a skeletal form ofbiography, but in spite of this, those who arranged the book of Isaiahdecided it best that we not know anything about this great prophet, exceptfor the fact that he was the son of Amoz and a few other details. <strong>The</strong>difference between the desire to increase biographical information - whichis typical for the early books of the Bible – and the tendency to minimizebiographical information as much as possible – which is typical of thebooks of the prophets – is one that cries out. This fact forces us to theconclusion that the cult of scribes and prophets, among whom are countedthe great mystics of all generations, wished to present the prophets aspeople who have no stain or flaw and in this way to elevate their value inthe eyes of generations to come, in comparison to the value of theircompetitors and their opposition. In this tendency, the cult went so far thatit directed a policy, toward the prophets, that describes them as a class ofpeople that is completely different from that of the early books of the Bible.Chapter 2<strong>The</strong> Congregation of Peoples in the Land of Canaan1<strong>The</strong> word “people” (‘am) and the word “eternity” (nesah) contradict eachother. For every people is destined to die and its destiny is to expire sooneror later. This truth was not hidden from the Patriarchs. <strong>The</strong>refore, it wasnot their ambition to found one people, but a long line of peoples fightingfor continuity, for the conquest of time, like a Darwinist struggle in whichthe strongest and most mighty prevails. God said to Abraham:
