229would not resign. <strong>The</strong> situation of resigning/not resigning continued forseveral months and, in the end, the advisor took his belongings and traveledto Paris, with the intention of reappearing for the elections for the sixthKnesset. <strong>The</strong> new prime minister sent Chouraqui a very polite letter. Thispoliteness, which Eshkol extended to Chouraqui, is not for the sake ofhonoring the man himself, but to hide from the eyes of the public thefailure that Ben-Gurion had left for him as he fell into the net that adishonest man had set for him.<strong>The</strong> expulsion of Chouraqui gave the Sephardic leaders an excuse for apropaganda campaign against Ashkenaz in the style of Goebbels andStreicher. <strong>The</strong> leaders announced that Chouraqui had found the remedy,the hockus-pokus, that makes it possible to illiminate, with the speed oflightening, Sephardo-Mizrahi retardation, but that the evil <strong>Ashkenazi</strong>m hadrefused to accept the recommendations of this wonderful advisor, or toadminister his remedies. <strong>The</strong> question, however, must be asked: Why didChouraqui, or whoever preceeded Chouraqui, not administer thesewonderful remedies among the Sephardic masses before they came toIsrael? And why did Chouraqui not administer them himself in the State ofIsrael or in France, which had now turned into a great center for Sepharad,and has no lack of ignoramuses or backward people of the type so commonin the developing cities of the State of Israel? But it is practically a wasteof time to present these questions to people whose only interest is in hatingAshkenaz, and whose only goal is to witness our utter destruction.4In the battles of the Sephardic leaders, Professor Chouraqui fills yet anotherrole. He serves as an intermediary between the circle of leaders in Parisand London and those who are active in the State of Israel. <strong>The</strong> Israelileaders are mere small fish while the higher command of the Sephardicleadership is in London and Paris, among pedigreed families, remnants ofthe old Sephardic aristocracy. To these circles have now been added newgroups of leaders, who came from North Africa and settled in the largecities of Western Europe. <strong>The</strong> upper command of Sephardic leadership
