268The Ashkenazi viewpoint, which is laid out in this chapter, is simple faiththat can be understood by all people, children or the extremely elderly. It isbased on three simple pillars. The connection to time is expressed by theprinciple of the eternity of Ashkenaz. The Ashkenazi flag expresses theconnection to space. As an organizational basis, Ashkenazi hegemony, which comes from national, hereditary and environmental influences, serves this role. The Ashkenazi viewpoint is in the spirit of the classicJewish-Semitic viewpoints, which captured great masses of people arounda few entirely simple principles. This viewpoint is very conservative and ithas no novelties at its core. It is based upon principles that wereestablished in the days of the Patriarchs, and always served as a candle forthe elders of Judah. The democratic character of the Ashkenazi viewpointis absolutely kosher. It lacks any hint of the underhandedness thatcharacterizes the elitist circles of most Israeli political parties, and whichkills any true democracy. The intentions of the Ashkenazi viewpoint areopen and clear to all. AHebrew or Jewish civilization is not a united construct, but a combinationof various cultures that struggle with each other and undermine each other. Moreover: A State of Israel that nurtures a Sephardic, or Levantine,
