289Letter Nr. 35Paris, February 10, 1835[To J. de Chossotte]My dear Father,I cannot begin my letter otherwise than thanking you for all thekindness you showed me and my friends that you became acquainted with.Above all be assured of our most sincere gratitude and in particular of my filialattachment. The Messers Celiński, Pierre and Leon, are well and they arepersevering on the right path on which you directed their first steps. For mypart, I have tried as much as I can to live a regular Christian life confidingmore in the divine goodness than in my own strength; I will soon have to callagain on your ministrations for a new confession. For the moment here is myrequest: a new friend of mine would like to make his confession this week.Saturday the 14 th is his birthday and he would like to go to Communion on thatday. If you have a few moments free on the 11 th or 12 th he would go to yourplace on the day and at the time you say. He is one of our members ofparliament (or as we say at home "nonce") and at the same time one of ourmost distinguished poets, Zaleski by name. He was already been converted forsome time, but the difficulties he has experienced keep him away from theconfessional and this conversion remains incomplete. A year ago he experiencedof necessity many temptations and falls of which he would like, withthe grace of God and your help, to elevate himself definitively. I don't need tointercede for him with you because I am sure your zeal will help himaccomplish this holy revolution.On this matter I beg you to send me an answer as soon as you can, 6Verneuil Street.
