Sofa Tutor develops ICT comp<strong>et</strong>ence in users, either learners or language learning supporters. It<br />

inclu<strong>des</strong> chat, interactive exercises and video contents. It targ<strong>et</strong>s German speakers and does not<br />

demand proficiency in English (the site is in German).<br />

Describe the solution from the perspective of e<strong>CAL</strong><br />

Direct one-to-one communication with a tutor is possible in form of entire individual lessons (payable)<br />

or feedback on work done. The feedback service (help with homework) is available Mon-Fri from 5<br />

p.m. to 7 p.m., reaction time is under 3 min and the problem is usually solved in under 10 min.<br />

Comments can be posted under video clips and wider ranging comments can be posted through a<br />

feedback form.<br />

Support chat is available and technical and other queries can be posted to help<strong>des</strong>k. FAQs are<br />

published. The site inclu<strong>des</strong> a blog and a rich-in-contents newsl<strong>et</strong>ter which is published in three<br />

versions: a version for student, a version for teacher, a version for parent.<br />

The student version inclu<strong>des</strong>, among other contents, learning tips, the teachers’ version inclu<strong>des</strong><br />

teaching tips and extra resources, the parents’ version inclu<strong>des</strong> various information and advice.<br />

Besi<strong>des</strong> the web support there is also a telephone help-line available daily 10 a.m. – 18. p.m.<br />
