"APACHE" HAM TRANSMITTER KIT<br />
This beautifully styled transmitter has just about everything you<br />
could ask for in transmitting facilities. The "Apache" is a high<br />
quality transmitter operating with a 150 watt phone input and<br />
180 watt CW input. In addition to CW and phone operation,<br />
built -in switch selected circuitry provides for single -sideband<br />
transmission through the use of a plug -in external adapter. A<br />
completely redesigned, compact and stable VFO provides low<br />
drift frequency control necessary for SSB transmission. A slide<br />
rule type illuminated rotating VFO dial with full gear drive<br />
vernier tuning provides ample bandspread and precise frequency<br />
settings. The bandswitch allows quick selection of the<br />
amateur bands on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters (Il m with<br />
crystal control). This unit also has adjustable low -level speech<br />
clipping and a low distortion modulator stage employing two<br />
of the new 6CA7 /EL34 tubes in push -pull class AB operation.<br />
Time sequence keying is provided for "chirpless" break -in CW<br />
operation. The final amplifier is completely shielded for greater<br />
TVI protection and transmitter stability. A formed one -piece<br />
cabinet with convenient access hatch provides accessibility to<br />
tubes and crystal socket. Die -cast aluminum knobs and front<br />
panel escutcheons add to the attractive styling of the transmitter.<br />
Pi network output coupling matches antenna impedances<br />
between 50 and 72 ohms. A "spotting" push button is<br />
provided to allow tuning of the transmitter before switching<br />
on the final amplifier. This feature also enables the operator<br />
to "zero- beat" an incoming frequency without placing the<br />
