AAC304 – Acupuncture Meridians <strong>and</strong> Points III<br />

Units: 3<br />

This course covers the meridian theories <strong>and</strong> acupuncture points other than those covered in the courses of<br />

Acupuncture & Points I <strong>and</strong> II. The material of this course includes the theories of the Twelve Divergent<br />

Meridians, Fifteen Collaterals, Twelve Muscle Regions, <strong>and</strong> the Twelve Cutaneous Regions. The special<br />

theories <strong>and</strong> therapeutic functions of the Extra Points, Head <strong>and</strong> Ear Acupuncture are included as well. There<br />

is demonstration <strong>and</strong> practice of locating the extra points <strong>and</strong> ear points <strong>and</strong> measuring the head<br />

acupuncture lines at class exercises.<br />

AAC305 – Acupuncture Techniques II<br />

Units: 2<br />

This course is a continuation of Acupuncture Techniques I. Students will continue to practice needling<br />

techniques under close supervision on the Kidney, Pericardium, Triple Energizer, Gallbladder, <strong>and</strong> Liver<br />

Meridians. This course also covers the techniques of Rein<strong>for</strong>cing <strong>and</strong> Reducing manipulations <strong>and</strong> other<br />

acupuncture therapeutic methods, i.e. Dermal Tacks, Head Acupuncture, Ear Acupuncture, Prickling (Blood<br />

Letting), Cupping, Moxibustion, <strong>and</strong> Electro-acupuncture. Included in the course is also proper maintenance<br />

<strong>and</strong> safety <strong>for</strong> all acupuncture equipment. Instructor’s demonstration <strong>and</strong> student’s h<strong>and</strong>s-on practice under<br />

supervision are the major part of learning in this course.<br />

AAC507 – Acupuncture Prescriptions I<br />

Units: 3<br />

This course involves the clinical aspect of acupuncture therapy in diseases or syndromes of various body<br />

systems. At first, there is a discussion about the basic principles of point selection <strong>for</strong> clinical treatment. Then<br />

the students will learn how to set up therapeutic plan <strong>and</strong> how to prescribe acupuncture points based on the<br />

clinical diagnosis. There is also in‐depth discussion about modification of point selection according to<br />

differential diagnosis of each clinical syndrome in Oriental medicine.<br />

AAC706 – Acupuncture Prescriptions II<br />

Units: 3<br />

This is a continuous course to Acupuncture Prescription I <strong>and</strong> involves the acupuncture prescriptions <strong>for</strong> the<br />

clinical treatments of pain syndrome, gynecological disorders, pediatric diseases, dermatologic diseases, <strong>and</strong><br />

EENT diseases. There is in –depth discussion on the clinical manifestations, diagnosis, therapeutic plan, <strong>and</strong><br />

acupuncture prescription of each syndrome in Oriental medicine. This course also emphasizes on the<br />

modification of acupuncture prescription or point selection based on the differential diagnosis.<br />
