APP1520 – AOM Jurisprudence<br />

This course covers the laws <strong>and</strong> regulation of acupuncture practice in Cali<strong>for</strong>nia, the process of national<br />
certification <strong>and</strong> explores the variations of licensure outside of Cali<strong>for</strong>nia. Students will discuss how to acquire<br />
<strong>and</strong> maintain a license to practice as well as exploring potential causes <strong>for</strong> disciplinary action. This course<br />
includes compliance with OSHA <strong>and</strong> other regulatory agencies.<br />

APP1610 – Classics of Acupuncture<br />
Units: 2<br />
In this course students explore the Nan Jing <strong>and</strong> other classical texts devoted to the practice of acupuncture<br />
<strong>and</strong> moxibustion. Students will incorporate previously acquired clinical references, make diagnoses, <strong>and</strong><br />
provide a modern treatment plan based on classical treatment theories.<br />

APP1620 – Integrated Gynecology<br />
Units: 4<br />
In this course students will learn differential diagnosis of common gynecological complaints <strong>and</strong> fertility<br />
issues. Students will learn to correlate OM patterns of disharmony with common Western diagnoses <strong>and</strong><br />
develop treatment plans including acupuncture, Chinese herbal applications, lab <strong>and</strong> diagnostic imaging,<br />
interprofessional consultations, <strong>and</strong> referrals. Male sexual health is also included.<br />

APP1630 – Andrology<br />
Units: 3<br />
In this course students will review male sexual anatomy <strong>and</strong> physiology as well as diseases <strong>and</strong> pathologies of<br />
male sexuality. Diagnosis <strong>and</strong> treatment from both a Western <strong>and</strong> Eastern perspective will be included. The<br />
male aspects of infertility difficulties will be included in this course.<br />

APP1710 – Capstone I<br />
Units: 2<br />
This course prepares students <strong>for</strong> the completion of capstone projects. In this course students will review<br />
basic academic writing skills <strong>and</strong> learn how to prepare a manuscript <strong>for</strong> peer-review <strong>and</strong> publication. Students<br />
will learn the step-by-step process <strong>for</strong> the completion of their capstone project from topic selection, purpose<br />
statement, literature search, writing, <strong>and</strong> peer-review to oral presentation. The course includes writing<br />
samples, reports on literature search, <strong>and</strong> peer-review of published works. Capstone topic submissions will be<br />
reviewed by the Capstone Project Committee <strong>and</strong> Capstone Advisors assigned who will work with the student<br />
throughout the subsequent three terms to completion of the capstone.<br />
